Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the overall direction and management of the corporate and regional human resource (HR) and communications functions throughout Viterra US/Mexico, including payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, performance management, development, succession planning, employee relations, compensation, and diversity and inclusion. This key leadership position will collaborate with other members of the senior management team and regional executive team to align the Human Resource strategy with the overall goals of the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guides all aspects of HR management including talent acquisition, performance management, development, succession planning and termination within company policy.
  • Provides guidance to team leads to ensure compliance with all corporate expectations on business unit planning, continuous improvement, budget, and financial management reporting.
  • Oversees initiatives relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion, sustainability, and employee engagement/experience.
  • Recommends the operating and capital budgets for HR to the executive leadership team.
  • Provides the CEO Viterra US/Mexico with management reports and other documents required to keep the global headquarters office informed and confident regarding operations.
  • Directs the annual and ongoing review of compensation and benefits and presents recommendations to the CEO Viterra US/Mexico and executive leadership team.
  • Provides advice and assistance to the regional executive leadership team on significant matters relating to HR and employee and labor relations.
  • Contributes to the overall growth and development of Viterra by participating as a member of the US/Mexico executive leadership team, providing input and guidance.
  • Coordinates and integrates all HR functions and fosters collaborative interactions with other business units.
  • Represents the company on committees, task forces and project teams, and maintains relationships with external, related businesses, government agencies and industry contacts.
  • Fosters collaboration amongst regional and global HR teams for the sharing of ideas, information, process improvement, and other best practices.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressively-responsible experience in a HR function; 10+ years in a leadership position is preferred, as is experience in working under a large global parent, including international relations skills. Experience should include leading a variety of areas within the broader HR function.
  • Minimum undergraduate degree in a business or HR-related discipline; preference for graduate studies in a related field. SPHR designation preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge, skill and competence will be considered.
  • Broad understanding of company policy, operations and how future directions in the agribusiness industry will drive strategic human resource requirements.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Executive presence and interpersonal skills necessary to build trusted advisor relationships with all impacted stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, consulting and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to simultaneously lead multiple projects, prioritize and respond quickly to time-sensitive issues.
