VP-Infrastructure Automation & DevOps Engineering

Accountability Statement

Under the direction of Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Vice President of Infrastructure Automation and DevOps Engineering will be responsible for the analysis, design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of all facets of Infrastructure Automation and DevOps Engineering at VyStar including DevOps pipeline and Operations & Governance, and related services.
The Vice President of Infrastructure Automation and DevOps Engineering plans, lead and coordinate, and directs all daily operational activities of the team and provides direction and solutions that enhance mission-critical services to enable automation and DevOps model while delivering all benefits of automation and seamless end-to-end DevOps pipeline with properly defined quality gates across all delivery channels ensuring world-class financial services to our members.

As part of CTO team, you'll be an integral part of enabling our Cloud & DevOps journey towards moving our applications, infrastructure, and workloads out of our data centers and into the Cloud; reaching the goal of scale, flexibility, and error free operations. Working with Chief Technology Officer, you will own the vision and strategy for driving Infrastructure automation and DevOps and drive the associated program delivery with quality. This senior strategic leadership role is of the utmost importance as transform and move to cloud. This position provides the automation and DevSecOps strategy, leadership, and day-to-day management of staff with ultimate responsibility for identifying and designing related current and future technical solutions which keep products and services in use 24/7/365 while driving DevOps enablement and accelerating DevOps pipeline adoption.

This role requires a mix of broad technical knowledge, project management experience, strong analytic skills, a strategic vision to transform and drive innovative solution, and a track record of delivering results. Qualified candidates will have Infrastructure Automation, DevOps, Azure and Multi-Cloud experience, strong technical leadership and storytelling skills to build rapport with technology and business partners.

Essential Job Functions
  • The ideal candidate will bring industry leading thought leadership to develop and drive a "Automation First" and "Anytime Deployment with end-to-end DevOps" strategy for Vystar to meet our growing need for speed to market, delivery flexibility and competitive capabilities in the increasingly challenging landscape for member finance services; that can be operationalized in every region and market that we operate in.
  • Develop a business case and transform DevOps support model and capabilities by providing a anytime deployment model.
  • Collaborate with internal, enterprise partners to deliver modern DevOps and Automation capabilities for Vystar consumption, with fast cycle times.
  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure Automation and DevOps deployment patterns to meet speed, stability, scalability, security goals, and simultaneously deliver the associated savings from moving to anytime deployment methodology.
  • You will champion Infrastructure automation, support Hybrid Cloud Solutions, and display a strong understanding of Cloud-as-a-Service varieties.
  • Create the next generation of network centric Cloud architectures, you will make a key contribution supporting end-to-end Cloud Automation of application delivery, including Infrastructure provisioning and integration with Continuous Integration/Continuous Development (CI/CD) platforms, using existing and emerging technologies.
  • Enable DevOps teams to consume cloud services efficiently by adoption of modern Continuous Delivery capabilities, training, process, and governance model assessments to drive quantifiable business value with speed and cost.
  • Engage and perform comparative analysis, proof of concepts and other studies to assess viability of new infrastructure automation products.
  • Ensure deep integration with technology and business partners by fostering a culture of collaboration and attracting and developing talent which has technical/forward compatible fluency.
  • Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual information in complicated, unique and dynamic situations; draws on diverse range of internal and external sources.
  • Identify motivators for DevOps adoption and unblock enterprise challenges, with a focus on meeting internal security, risk and compliance standards with a common approach that enables rapid DevOps and CI/CD adoption across all functions.
  • Provide any audit related support to address risk reward for DevOps pipeline, CI/CD Deployment, ensure security, risk and compliance measures exceed any criteria established by regulatory oversight.
  • Determine security requirements to develop a best-in-class security posture (with Information Security and Enterprise Architecture leaders) that prevents franchise risk but drives adoption of cloud capabilities in a pragmatic, and repeatable manner as part of the DevOps pipeline.
  • Partner application development leaders to leverage capability development in order to drive application modernization by implementing standard design patterns, compliant with target state architecture.
  • Provide regular and meaningful management information on infrastructure automation and DevOps pipeline adoption, including spend, benefits, and investment view over a multiyear period.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, data driven solutions and a forward compatibility mindset to ensure the workforce is seeking and leveraging emerging industry trends and changes that affect the business and the member experience.

Job Qualifications
  • Industry leading thought leadership and experience with internal and external cloud services, and container orchestration models.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience with enterprise level IT projects, with 5+ years on consumer banking branch, IT infrastructure, automation and deployments.
  • Deep technical expertise on Azure, Azure DevOps and products and vendors in the cloud industry.
  • Experience with implementing automation with DevOps principles to further adoption of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery practices at enterprise scale to measurably increase productivity.
  • Breadth of expertise in private and public Cloud Computing (i.e Azure, AWS, Google, IBM, Red Hat, Pivotal, Oracle platforms), technologies and architectural best practices.
  • Understand cloud characteristics, models (IaaS, CaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and licensing practices.
  • In-depth understanding of security needs for cloud adoption in the financial industry including requirements from regulators such as NCUA, CFPB etc.
  • Must possess cloud industry experience and presentation ready knowledge of popular cloud platforms and related industry trends.
  • Experience with taking a product to market on an internal and external cloud platform.
  • Experience in providing internal cloud platform capabilities for adoption by a global enterprise IT organization.
  • Expert level technical acumen with ability to identify opportunities and overcome any technical obstacles, ultimately influencing the adoption of cloud services in conjunction with business requirements.
  • Expert level ability to understand the business domain of the customer or partner and the business problems the customer or partner is facing, with the intent to solve the business problems.
  • Experience with large scale, complex, application integration environments with regulatory oversight.
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders to achieve results that will have a significant business impact.
  • Demonstrated passion for building teams, and mentoring engineering skills required for cloud adoption at an enterprise scale.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to present information to senior level audiences and regulators in simple, logical business terms.
  • Diligent, disciplined and organized in her/his work: meets deadlines, strives for high quality, has complete documentation.
  • Strong Leadership and team-building skills

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline; Master's degree or MBA is highly desirable; equivalent experience acceptable
  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience
