A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is seeking a highly motivated individual and leader who seeks to improve innovatively business performance within various corporate and business segment environments in a highly matrixed environment. The successful candidate will operate at a strategic level with an entrepreneurial attitude and possess the necessary planning, selling (internal and external), delivery and support skills to deliver complex programs to mid and upper management levels in various functional areas. The candidate has successfully managed and implemented technologies and business programs while supporting rationalization efforts with global organizations. The candidate has a broad experience in leveraging modern approaches (e.g., agile, design thinking) to streamline operational processes and generate business benefits through an executable strategy. Ideally the candidate is well versed in logistics, integrated supply chain, engineering and production processes for the agriculture, energy, industrial, IM&C, technology and/or distribution industries where his/her efforts have resulted in cost savings, high ROI's or improved operational efficiencies.

Reporting to the President of Irrigation with matrix reporting to the Senior Vice President and CIO. The primary responsibility for this position is to lead the non-ERP VSO teams which includes but not limited to Engineering (CPQ, PLM, PDM, Drafting), Customer Relationship Management (Salesforce.com), Finance Supply Chain Management, Web Services and Marketing, Human Capital Management, and Transportation Management Applications. Part of this responsibility includes the oversight and management of our Digital Business Platform transition of ERP applications. The candidate should have experience in global deployment covering his/her areas of responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

• This position reports to the President of Irrigation with matrix reporting to the Senior Vice President and CIO and has 2 direct reports.
• Travel expectations 30% domestic and international with overnight stays
• Understand the businesses within a region and have a fair understanding of their market and industry
• Committed and dedicated to the division they are assigned, especially to the success of key initiatives
• Accountable to drive business related project needs
• Put the business needs "first" - be an advocate for the division in all things (project resources, project execution, technology needs, etc.)
• Be proactive in providing solutions that drive costs out, operational efficiencies and business benefits
• Be a digital ambassador to support a digital transformation aligned with Valmont's overall strategy
• Collaborate with IT peers and BPs to assure solution alignment across divisions for global scalability and commonality
• Collaborate with value stream owners to obtain expert counsel in a relevant domain stream
• Responsible for developing capital appropriation request (CAR) for agreed projects, including pulling the support of the business for ROI determination and accountability
• Support prioritization of initiatives within and across segments and geographies
• Work with the IT PMO for prioritizing initiatives, resource assignments, project timelines, partner selections, etc.
• Develop business cases to support business program justification and prioritization
• Seek global optimization opportunities across divisions
• Assure that commonality of solutions is enforced across segments and regions
• Accountable for overall program and project delivery
• Simplify our technology footprint globally and across segments/regions
• Collaborate with all business partners to understand the individual divisional needs
• Vendor management/relationships regarding the systems supported in the region

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

• Preferred Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience or Associate degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or 15+ years of relevant experience with emphasis in business, computer science, engineering, or related field
• 10+ years of IT professional level experience with a 5+ years serving in an IT leadership position supporting and deploying multiple business applications
• Experience working with global companies with the ability to work successfully in a matrixed organization
• Must show a career track of progressive IT and accompanying business roles. Experience should include roles in deploying global business applications and system design.
• Proven track record in the management of medium to large-sized teams of direct personnel and contracted support
• Able to travel domestically and globally up to approximately 30%
• Proven oral and written communication skills to clearly and concisely present information
• Familiarity/expertise in lean, agile, waterfall, design thinking methodologies and approaches
• Full life-cycle program management experience
• Must be able to confidently manage processes to meet agreed-upon milestones
• Ability to execute in the following areas:
  • Team building and staff leadership. Ability to identify skill gaps.
  • Budget Planning / cost management experience
  • IT policies and procedures development
  • Strategic business visioning and planning
  • Relationship building at C-Level
  • Vendor selection, negotiations, and management
  • Planning, communication, problem solving and presentation

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Business, Finance, Data, Computer Science, or relevant field
• Industry-recognized professional certification
• Experience in the following applications: Salesforce.com, SAP, QAD or IFS
• Experience with supply chain and/or manufacturing and/or financial supply chain technologies
• Manufacturing experience and an understanding of manufacturing business value drivers
• Experience with engineering technologies
• Acquisition and divestitures experience

Working Environment and Physical Efforts: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Travel requirements for this position up to 30% with overnight stays to domestic and international sites. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
