The Vice President, Marketing & Communications will lead the central marketing team in the development and deployment of marketing and communications programs that drive awareness and revenue growth of all CNA's enterprise product lines, field, and business segments. This strategic leader will possess experience building and executing on marketing capabilities and managing customer lifecycle messaging and retention strategies. The Vice President, Marketing & Communications will serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership across CNA and will ensure corporate marketing and communication resources are aligned to enterprise strategic priorities while also tailoring brand-appropriate messaging to maintain the competitive advantage for CNA.
Additionally, this executive will oversee the enterprise corporate communications strategy to ensure clear and consistent messaging, both internally and externally. This executive will be responsible for building thought leadership of individual experts and practices through a variety of communications mediums to enhance CNA's brand among employees, customers, trade, local market and national media, as well as industry influencers in the insurance community.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Serves as key strategist to marketing and communications with ultimate accountability over allocation of resources, editorial ownership, and financial results from programs.
- Develop and manage opportunities for brokers to leverage CNA's evolving brand to build awareness, drive lead generation, convert and support ongoing customer retention and growth.
- Works hand in hand with Agents and Producers to ensure brand-appropriate messaging that is both consistent but also tailored to their needs while maintaining the competitive advantage for CNA.
- Develops strategies that work in concert with sales execution and distribution engagement strategies to achieve business goals for growth and profit.
- Responsible for regular reporting and measurement of marketing campaigns and their impact on top line growth within CNA's chosen customer segments and product lines.
- Sets the strategic direction for the Corporate Communications team, guiding the team to work with key stakeholders to develop and execute annual internal communications plans for all business units.
- Defines content and measurement strategies for corporate communications to ensure effectiveness and ability to assess impact.
- In coordination with key stakeholders, identifies research efforts to align CNA's coverage/service solutions to identified customer insights, as well as identify product/service development opportunities.
- Maintains view of competitive landscape to impact CNA's positioning and marketing objectives.
- Leads, directs, and has full management accountability for the corporate marketing and communications functions with responsibility for professional development while driving consistency in process innovation in marketing program design.
- Identifies new technologies, processes, and techniques in coordination with key stakeholders to be integrated into CNA's marketing and communications.
- Collaborates across business and functional areas within the company to ensure marketing and communications are aligned to strategic business priorities and responsive to business needs.
- Leads annual budget planning for all corporate marketing and communications to support enterprise goals for growth, corporate giving, and profitability.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of theories and practices for go-to-market strategies, campaign development, digital marketing, b2b marketing, product development, program management, direct mail/direct response, database and e-marketing, public relations, market research, and corporate social responsibility.
- Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving problems within scope of responsibility.
- Knowledge of the commercial insurance industry that is broker-led, its products, and services.
- Ability to bring new solutions to old problems - pressure test convention as the world and industry evolves around us.
- Dynamic marketing leader with a proven track record of building and managing a strong corporate brand and guiding a high-growth company to a leading market position.
- In-depth technical knowledge of theories and practices with the communications field i.e., advanced writing skills, speech writing, crisis communications writing, content strategy development and content measurement.
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of external and/or internal business partners within scope of responsibility, team and/or matrix environment.
- Leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism. Deliver sustained, profitable growth that pays equal attention to consumer experience, team development, culture, and DE&I growth.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred in marketing, communications, or a related discipline equivalent.
- Typically a minimum of 12 years of related work experience, with seven years management experience.
- Insurance industry experience preferred.
