VP of Engineering

Veo is a global leader in AI-based sports camera technology. Our innovative, fully automatic camera solution enables sports teams to record matches and training sessions without a camera operator. This position will be responsible for all the engineering work in the applications department. To achieve that, we seek a passionate and experienced engineering leader to develop and coach our engineering department. This position reports directly to Veo's CTPO.

Veo’s tech, design, and product teams are called the “Builders” - we believe in cross-functional collaboration, and that product, design, and engineering must work as closely together as possible. The Builders are structured into three units:

Capture: Develops new hardware and supports the existing cameras in the market

AI: Provides all the AI functionality of Veo (Follow Cam, AI highlights, deep Analytics)

Applications: Develop the web and mobile offerings to Players, Coaches, and Admins used to work with video and game analysis.

What you will do:

• Create a technology vision for our web applications, with the team
• Develop strategies to fulfill our mission of making sports technology accessible for all by making efficient use of our infrastructure
• Work with partners across the organization - Commercial, Marketing, Customer Success - creating a high level of alignment on how multiple teams can support the company goals
• Contribute to creating a developer platform where engineers can move fast
• Optimize our infrastructure costs
• Run a high-scale web platform

What background do we expect:

• You have run large-scale web applications before, and you have seen good and bad. Based on these experiences you come with opinions, but you can adapt them to our environment
• You know that a fast-growing company needs to make compromises, and you see them as challenges as these compromises enabled our current position
• You have a significant background in infrastructure and architecture at scale
• You know that DevOps is a methodology and not a team
• You have seen monoliths, and you are aware that there are several ways to continue with them
• You have a documented history of growing and developing engineering managers
• You are an active proponent of a product discovery process that includes engineers
• Ideally, you have experience with engineering organizations that develop both hardware and software
• Experience with streaming platforms and video processing is beneficial
• Experience with filing tech patents is desirable
