About The Role & Team

We are looking for an extraordinary Engineering leader who is passionate about product and solving customer pain to join Amplitude as we promote digital analytics in our mission to help companies build better digital products. As the market leader in product analytics, this key executive will be at the forefront of impacting thousands of brands as they strive to answer one question: what do our customers really want? The Vice President of Engineering, Analytics will lead and expand our engineering team focused on our Analytics products. The VP will report directly to the SVP of Engineering and work closely cross-functionally with leaders and teams in Engineering, Product, Go-to-Market, and Finance, as well as directly with our customers to understand their needs and identify areas where we can add more value. This leader will develop a cohesive vision and strategy for the team that will evolve over time as we strive to stay ahead of the competition and remain #1.

Responsibilities:
  • Define the vision, strategy and roadmap of the Analytics Engineering organization that keeps us laser focused on remaining the leader in digital optimization.
  • Set up the right processes and infrastructure to deliver our roadmap, scale our team, improve efficiency and maintain our culture.
  • Constantly innovate alongside customers to solve their pain and add more value for them; disrupt ourselves when needed.
  • Scale and up-level the team; mentor, coach and develop the people leaders in the team.
  • Serve as a talent magnet and hire and retain a diverse team of outstanding engineering talent.
  • Identify the next level of leadership in the organization (both technical and people leaders) and cultivate a culture of investing in our people.
  • Work with several teams including Engineering, Product,and Go-to-Market.
Skills and Experiences:
  • Progressive leader with a consistent track record of optimally scaling a successful engineering organization; minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience within a fast-growing technology organization
  • Must have experience supporting Enterprise products and have worked in a SaaS environment
  • Analytics domain and experience in building analytics products is a plus
  • Background in software development is required; has a deep understanding of development processes and methodologies
  • Outstanding leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to grow, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Experienced working with external customers; drives product direction and constantly innovates to solve for pain points and increase value for customers
  • Belief that great engineering management starts with building trust and empathy, and ultimately succeeds by being able to challenge the team to grow and excel
  • Proven experience in effectively working cross-functionally and aligning goals, strategy and objectives
  • Solid communicator and comfortable in presenting to both business and technical executives
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field is required
