VP of Finance

Tutored by Teachers is a fast growing, mission driven start-up working to close the opportunity gap in education. We are led by experienced operators, powered by educators, and backed by some of the largest names in EdTech (GSV, TMV, A-Street Ventures).

We are seeking a high performance VP of Finance to own all financial management, planning, and analysis for the company, including ownership of multi-million dollar teacher payments. This is a mission critical role and reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

• FP&A. Own all financial planning, and analysis (executive decision support) to ensure high ROI business decisions and prudent financial management.
• Reporting. Build and optimize the systems to report financial and operating KPIs.
• Teacher Payments. Ensure timely and accurate teacher payments.
• Deal Desk. Evaluate deals with customers, partners, and vendors.
• Investor Relations. Partner with the CEO on board reporting, investor updates, and fundraising.
• Accounting. Manage external accountants, AP/AR, employee reimbursements, etc.
• Treasury. Company cash management.

Required Experience / Capabilities

• Experience with B2B and D2C business models and KPIs
• Has built systems to report financial and operating KPIs
• Understands financial statements, accounting concepts, and valuation
• Has built persuasive, good-looking decks reporting on results and analyses (e.g., Board decks!)
• Familiarity with a wide variety of forecasting methods (e.g., comps-based, decay curves), valuation modeling (e.g., DCF, LBO), and general statistical concepts (e.g., regression, statistical significance, power curves, etc.)
• Familiarity with various types of analysis to drive executive decision support (e.g., "What do you have to believe?" analysis, cohort analyses, LTV analyses, competitive analyses)
• Experience drawing insights from large, disparate data sets through creative use of spreadsheets
• Supported negotiations with vendors and business partners by modeling outcomes and measuring impact
