Role Summary/Purpose:
The VP, PayPal Strategic Initiatives will play a key role in providing thought leadership for a strategic and growing portfolio to increase overall growth and profitability. This will involve partnering cross functionally to identify revenue opportunities, emerging technologies, driving strategies and initiatives across the PayPal
brands (PayPal Credit, PayPal Co-Brand, Venmo and eBay).
The PayPal Strategic Initiatives role is key to supporting the program management of strategies and initiatives in support of the Portfolio General Managers. It is expected that this person will also develop best practice tools and standards to enable effective program management of PayPal's portfolios.
Additionally this role will support the development and ongoing management of integrated portfolio planning across products and portfolio operating rhythms, including internal and client meeting cadences.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead portfolio cross-functional strategic initiatives with multiple workstreams (i.e. technology, credit, marketing, operations, finance, legal, etc.) between client and Synchrony
- Act as a strategy consultant for large-scale initiatives, providing guidance and leadership for the design, analysis and measurement phases of the project.
- Provide coordination of portfolio level business strategies, products and initiatives.
- Provide strategic thought leadership and influence client teams to implement business and commercial strategies based upon customer, financial and other inputs from key
- Drive new strategies, technologies, and other functional solutions across all PayPal
- Develop/maintain strong rapport with the client and key internal stakeholders and leadership.
- Deploy a common set of project and program management processes, guides and/or templates, for effective program management, including:
- Creating and managing cross functional, multi-year project and program plan(s)
- Coordinate with portfolio General Managers in developing strategic initiatives roadmaps
- Requirements gathering, documentation, and resource management
- Prepare and present business updates on programs and initiatives including performance results to the Senior Leadership team for the PayPal Program in various forums and settings.
- Support cross-portfolio operating rhythm including Business Reviews, SOC, Town Halls, and internal team meetings.
- Support integrated portfolio planning including development of portfolio goals, Synchrony planning processes, etc.
- Represent client initiatives, requests and interests with SYF key subcommittees and SYF leadership engagements.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a degree, 10 years of equivalent work experience in the financial services industry
- Minimum of 7 years of cross-functional leadership experience in financial services industry
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an external market/client facing role with a proven track record of being able to drive growth and develop strong partner relationships
- Minimum 5 years product or project management experience with ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver large complex programs
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in delivering formal communications to either senior business leaders or key external business partners
- Strong overall cross-functional knowledge of Credit Card or Payments business model and products including technology, product management, marketing, credit, operations, marketing and finance
- Strong business acumen with ability to bridge the business objectives with technology capabilities, including development of business cases/scenario planning

- Knowledge of product and project management methodologies (e.g., waterfall and Agile) and frameworks
- Able to create and deliver executive-level summary reports and presentations

- Passion for our merchants, customers, cross functional teams and agile teams
- Able to interface and influence at all levels within the organization
- MBA
- Ability to focus on execution with keen understanding of strategy
- Strong facilitation, conflict-resolutions skills and the ability to work in collaborative
- Comfortable working on a distributed team and in an ambiguous environment
- Proven ability to work independently yet as key member and contributor to a broader team
- Experience delivering new products/capabilities to market
Grade/Level: 14
The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- N ew hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
