The VP, People Operations will be instrumental in building and evolving our People Operations functions supporting strategic retention goals, negotiating employment agreements, ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations and championing our values while scaling for growth.
You will directly oversee a team of US people operations employees and partner with the Israel-based HR team to plan and execute the global people strategy.
BrainPOP is a hybrid work environment, and this role will be expected to spend time weekly in-office at our New York City headquarters.
Primary Responsibilities- Own Global HR Policies, Procedures, and Programs
- Create and/or update policies, procedures, and guidelines as needed to ensure we are aligned with industry best practices and current laws and regulations.
- Evaluate HR policies and procedures on an annual basis, and make changes as necessary.
- Keep current regarding competitive HR practices, including compensation, benefits, and related issues.
- Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards.
- Communicate with the Department of Labor on employment/tax-related matters.
- Create annual compliance review calendar and liaise with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance (e..g Affirmative Action Plan, Anti-Harassment Training)
- Support international mobility programs (e.g. work permits, etc.)
- Senior HR Business Partner
- Act as the Senior HR Business Partner for the company partnering with senior leadership to develop and direct an HR agenda that closely supports organizational goals.
- Advise on organizational design and career pathing / succession planning
- Lead expert to handle complex HR and employee relations issues by participating in coaching, counseling and advising management and HR staff
- Anticipate and resolve litigation risks by partnering closely with Legal
- Payroll & Benefits
- Partner with Accounting to ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately
- Direct and oversee US Based Benefits: Ensure offerings are competitive and cost-effective for the company and of value to employees.
- Liaise with Israel HR/Finance to understand Israel Payroll & Benefits when making global HR policy & procedures decisions
- Oversee employee leave of absence program
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Develop and implement strategies to increase diversity & inclusion within the organization.
- Collaborate with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair & Committee on key initiatives and communication plans
- Collaborate with HR team leads and share best practices on how to incorporate DEI into other HR functional areas (e.g. employee experience/events, talent acquisition, learning & development)
- Global Compensation
- Own annual compensation benchmarking and partner with finance on budgeting
- Program manage quarterly promotion and compensation increase process in an efficient and effective manner
- Ensure short term incentive program is executed in a timely manner
- Implement process improvements in sales commissions process
- Ensure internal equity in the offer and compensation review process
- Global HR Data & Reporting
- Own people systems and tools (pave, bamboo) and ensure data integrity and optimal usage, oversee implementation of new tools/systems
- Prepare and analyze HR metrics and provide reports that support decision making in specified areas including engagement surveys, pulse surveys and exit interviews
- Prepare and analyze HR metrics and provide reports to upper management on a regular basis that support decision making in specified areas (e.g. attrition, exit survey data, recruiting time to fill, DEI trends, etc.)
- Manage the budget for assigned areas including vendor negotiations, invoice approval, and budget planning with finance.

- Quality / Attention to Detail: You are obsessed with flawless execution and getting the details right the first time. You have a very high quality bar for yourself and know how to build systems and coach your team to have this rigor to build high trust and confidence within the organization.

- Project management and prioritization: Ability to develop detailed project plans and execute complex projects with successful outcomes. Initiate prioritization and alignment discussions as needed.
- Experience developing a scalable culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Passion: You are passionate about improving access to high-quality education solutions
- PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
- MBA is a plus

The starting salary for this role is between $150,000 - $215,000, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. We have competitive pay bands for all other countries based on market standards. Individual compensation decisions are based on several factors, including experience level, skill set, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect most of the candidates offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description, as posted. If so, the updated salary range will be communicated to you as a candidate.
