As a member of our Global L&D Team and reporting into the SVP, People & Organization Development (Global), this role will not only lead a talented group of individuals in the US Learning & Development team but also help develop and co-lead our Global Learning Strategy. Including global programs and initiatives (in-person, virtual and digital) to further our leadership and management development while providing learning opportunities across all our business units for a best-in-class employee experience across the whole employee journey. And to do this collaboratively by partnering with all parts of our progressive, diverse PX Team and the business at large to co-design brand new solutions in response to current needs and future opportunities.
We are therefore looking for an innovative, solution-driven, tech forward and creative leader. And someone who is just as comfortable facilitating learning events (both in-person and virtual) and designing elearning as they are with strategic, visionary thinking. Our Learning & Development function is not simply an ‘order-taker’ but a strategic partner that actively seeks out opportunities to add value across all levels: individual, team and organization.
What you'll do:Team Leadership
- Build, lead and develop a first-class, innovative US Learning & Development team
- Continuously improve the output and impact of the US Learning & Development team, their projects and programs.
- Coach, mentor and develop the team to achieve their career goals and create a culture of high performing, highly collaborative and creative L&D partners
Strategic Leadership
- Serve as a strategic partner and thought leader for the US business and for the Global L&D function
- Help develop a global strategic roadmap of learning initiatives that align to our mission, vision, values and strategy
- Lead the US Learning & Development team to oversee the design and development of both US and global learning programs in partnership with internal and external partners
- Identify innovative learning solutions to support our teams to continue to learn and grow.
- In partnership with the People Analytics team, use data to drive conversations around strategic learning priorities, impact, and business outcomes
- Deliver executive coaching programs and facilitate in-person and/or virtual events as needed
DEI Champion & Engagement Strategy
- Ensure DEI is threaded throughout every aspect of the learning journey. Partner with the Office of DEI and other business partners to ensure programs and initiatives make a strategic connection between diversity, equity and inclusion practices with organizational success including awareness training, coaching, mentorship, etc.
- Lead global employee engagement surveys and help support the development of action plans to further drive engagement by partnering with leaders, managers and people teams.
Organizational Change Leadership
- Oversee comprehensive onboarding and new hire experience programs in the US
- Co-lead talent development strategies and plans related to critical roles, succession, and key talent segments
- Enable LMS and supporting systems to support our talent development, engagement and organizational change efforts
Thought Leadership
- Have a strong grasp of the science, theories, and best/emerging practices in Learning and Development, as well as a practical understanding of how they can be translated and effectively applied & adapted to business needs.
- Possess a strong combination of intellectual curiosity and empathy with an ability to connect and influence Senior Leaders, PX Partners, DEI Partners, Communication Partners and external parties to advance organizational thinking and learning
- Someone with in-depth knowledge of leading strategic learning & development best practices (including blended learning, tech-forward learning, instructional design, talent management, organization design, and performance management) typically gained through 10+ years of experience in a strategic learning role and preferably in a creative industry
- A self-motivated, passionate, innovative and influential thought leader, driven by a positive energy and intellectual curiosity coupled with a strong business and commercial acumen and with a keen interest in the music industry
- Someone who wants to truly own their role, bringing well thought-out & clear points of view and opinions combined with a desire to do great work that enables all our people to continuously learn, develop and thrive
- In touch with the latest learning insights and thinking, always wanting to know more and able to make connections with the latest key trends and developments in the music industry to ensure Sony Music is always at the forefront of driving innovative, creative-centered solutions
- Agile and comfortable switching between ‘big picture’ strategic thinking and getting involved with execution activities when required. Always with an eye for detail to deliver work of the highest quality that combines great substance with creative style
- Experienced in leading, managing and developing a high performing team in a highly collaborative, diverse, team-based environment using a consultative approach to instill trust and credibility with senior leaders and business partners
- Highly skilled in designing and building innovative, progressive learning and development programs (including blended learning to make the best use of different formats and mediums).
- A strong knowledge of the latest learning and development technologies. And with a real desire to explore and align data and metrics with action plans to impact business growth and commercial success.
- Comfortable working with senior leadership teams and able to embrace cross-cultural awareness to navigate, influence and communicate at all levels with strong influencing and facilitation skills to get to the best outcomes.
- Experienced in coaching leaders toward inclusion, high performance and organizational effectiveness.
- The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $200k to $228k. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
