The Vice President of Product Development & Strategy responsible for a team of application engineers and formulators who own the overall product lifecycle which includes gathering and prioritizing market requirements, determining the right mix of product initiatives that will maximize portfolio ROI, working with the development, delivery, and operations team on the delivery of capabilities, and confirming that the result meets the specified requirements and objectives. This includes ensuring that all departments are prepared for successful product launches and go-to-market execution.
Responsibilities Include:
- Design and drive the product roadmap and portfolio for both short- and long-term growth by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, partners, Marketing, Sales, and Operations.
- Execute new product launch plans, partnering with Marketing and Sales to provide product education, demonstrations, and expertise to internal and external customers
- Be the internal product evangelist and a sought after internal and external market expert ensuring that products meet user and business requirements
- Drive delivery of market and customer requirements, including definition, prioritization, trade-offs, and execution of release goals
- Translate market and customer feedback into requirements, driving product delivery through an agile release process
- Work closely with team members, including product development, application engineering, and manufacturing & engineering, to meet customer requirements and expectations
- Work closely with the CEO and CTO to develop product release goals
- Attend domestic and international tradeshows
- Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly product development updates and reports
Education & Experience Desired:
- PhD degree in the field of optics, polymer or material science is required.
- 10 + years of experience leading research & development teams and developing products to customer requirements including the qualification and introduction of new products.
- Experience with New Product Introduction and Stage Gate business processes.
- Preferred experience in the formulation of optical materials and nanoparticle formulations.
- Leadership - Manage the team of application engineers and product developers, ensuring the team is properly resourced, structured, and set up for success
- Strategic/Tactical Balance – Ability to balance the market and product vision and lead a team through disciplined tactical execution
- Commercial product management expertise – Demonstrate a track record of success in B2B product management
- Ability to thrive in a rapid growth, entrepreneurial environment
- Strong communication, leadership, general business and skills
Compensation includes executive-level base salary, performance-based annual bonuses, and equity. Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, term life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, and retirement programs. Paid leave includes paid time off, parental leave and holiday pay.
