How Will Your Role Impact First Command?
The Vice President, Recruiting and Licensing is a dynamic and transformational leader who is ultimately responsible for growing the number of Financial Advisors in our organization. First Command focuses on recruiting Financial Advisors from the military community and then place them back into their community to help put military families on the path to financial success. This key business partner and strategist must continually reimagine our Sourcing, Recruiting, Licensing and Onboarding programs. In this role, you will design a Recruiting and Licensing Strategy, as a growth metric, and align it with our overall business plan. This role requires strong change leadership, a proactive and insightful thinker, and the ability to act as an advocate for our Field Leaders. Working in an agile environment, this leader will create new recruiting/ licensing models and implement them on a National/ Global scale.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Develop a Recruiting and Licensing Vision and Strategy based on individual Financial Advisor success, retention, and company sales goals.
- Introduce new processes and procedures to embrace automation and streamline otherwise manual or inefficient systems.
- Oversee the initial licensing and Insurance Company appointments for all new Financial Advisors as well as the maintenance for all licensed professionals in the organization.
- Coach, resource, and lead the team responsible for sourcing, evaluating and selecting talent at all levels. Develop and build the team in alignment with First Command's Mission and Vision.
- Bring depth and enterprise level recruiting expertise, focused on 'outside-in' thinking from a Financial Services industry recruitment perspective.
- Act as a skilled collaborator, influencer, and trusted partner, who can communicate complex messages to others.
- Effectively champion and lead change. Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Lead others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization.
- Be able to evaluate quality of information received and question conflicting data for analysis. Use multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- Develop and evaluate related key metrics to ensure the success of the department and achievement of the organization's strategic plan and budget for recruiting. Proactively propose and lead implementation of adjustments necessary to address variances and remain on track with goals.
- Maintain awareness of both the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, and new industry developments and standards. Be aware of any opportunities the organization can leverage and pursue for its advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Competencies) Required
- Knowledge of the Recruiting Industry and associated regulatory and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of the financial planning industry and the business of personal financial planning
- Knowledge of securities and insurance licensing and State/ Federal registration
- Experience in Managing a National Brand as it relates to attracting top talent
- Experience in growing a professional salesforce through active recruitment from all industries
- Experience in recruiting Veterans and placing them into professional careers
- Knowledge of how Marketing campaigns integrate into an overall recruiting strategy
- Knowledge of Recruiting online or on Social Media
- Knowledge of basic regulatory and compliance requirements of the investment, insurance and advisory business.

What Sills/Qualifications Do You Need?
Education
Bachelor's degree in finance or business-related field required. Master's degree a plus.
Work Experience
- At least 10 years in enterprise level recruiting with a focus on growing a professional sales force.
- At least 5 years of experience in the financial services industry in a leadership role with experience in financial planning, securities sales, and insurance sales
- Familiar with Agile Framework (Preferred)
Credentials
- Professional Recruiter Certification (Preferred)
- Must hold FINRA series 7, 66, or equivalent (Obtain within 6 months)
- Must hold Texas Group I Life Insurance license (Obtain within 6 months)
