Role Summary/Purpose:

The pace and complexity of software development is increasing constantly - straining traditional IT operations practices. DevOps helps alleviate siloed workflows, and lack of visibility and collaboration. However, DevOps teams do not necessarily dedicate resources to increase application reliability and performance. That gap is filled by Reliability Engineering, which applies software engineering principles to ensure high reliability and scalability of software systems.

The VP, Reliability Engineer is responsible for the technical stewardship of multiple applications and associated d evelopment projects. This experienced engineer possesses the skills to take prompt decisions, lead a team of other engineers, manage deadlines, and resolve problems. The Reliability Engineer must have a balanced mix of software engineering and system administration skills. This engineering leader is responsible for highly automatic and self-healing applications, which in turn frees up time for development tasks such as new features and business growth .

This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. Essential Responsibilities:

  • R esponsible for the dependability and scalability of enterprise-scale applications .
  • L ead the reliability process to ensure the highest level of systems availability, stability, security, and performance, including maintenance and support, root cause analysis, systems validation, performance tuning and capacity management .
  • Lead DevOps teams in shared responsibility for the reliability of these applications and associated platforms , including fixing issues , and responding to incidents / on-call events .
  • Ensure reliability from the beginning via early participation in the SDLC
  • Drive a root cause analysis program that will lead to reduced downtime, increased resiliency, and a culture of continuous improvement .
  • Lead by example - roll up the sleeves and get involved in coding, reviews, and troubleshooting
  • Design and implement monitoring, alerting and appropriate metrics to track and report adherence to service SLOs and SLAs, performance, and operational efficiency .
  • Establish platform health reporting guidelines and communication plans .
  • Be an agent of technical innovation and efficiency in application and infrastructure operations via simplification and automation .
  • E xecute on application and underlying framework end of life (EOL) requirements/opportunities, continuous capacity management, and associated investment plans.
  • Drive progress on incidents and fixing support escalation cases .
  • Establish platform health reporting dashboards and communications.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum 9 years of combined experience in application development and support for associated infrastructure OR, in lieu of degree, High School Diploma/GED 1 1 years of combined experience
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in full stack development using Spring, other JEE technologies, Spring REST API and UI technologies and frameworks
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in application design
  • Minimum 7 years of systems engineering experience
  • Knowledge and experience in build, deployment, and operations of large-scale distributed, microservice oriented applications
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to coordinate diverse SRE rhythms and stakeholders .
  • Proven experience in o wnership and full accountability of SRE responsibilities and their success

Eligibility Requirements:
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).

The salary range for this position is 85,000.00 - 170,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
