VP, Software Engineering

Overview

We are one of the top companies in the business spend management SAAS space. Our product is an industry leading SAAS business management platform. We are currently in the process of executing upon an IPO that gives us exposure to public capital markets helping us to fuel our growth even faster. We are a $120m+ ARR business, managing, innovating, and unifying a multi-faceted SAAS product portfolio into a unified platform.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Vice President of Software Engineering to manage the development of one of the key SAAS platform/products in our portfolio. You'll provide technical leadership for all aspects of the software development life cycle, and your responsibilities will include building, leading, and structuring multiple teams of engineers, along with providing coaching and career growth for your team members. You'll lead your teams to own the design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and delivery of our applications and services. You'll spend some of your time being hands-on and leading by example and remainder of your time growing and leading our engineering org.

Our tech stack is primarily PHP/LAMP AWS-based and is built with modern software design principles with a distributed web application architecture, Laravel node, Amazon native messaging and cache technologies. The stack is architected and automated using cloud native technologies, CI/CD workflows and configuration management platforms. Our software development lifecycle is primarily Agile/Scrum and incorporates Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CICD) methods.

You will lead a team that is 100+ strong to define our future technology choices, architecture, team process, and standards. You will be a key contributor to overall technology strategy and will work closely with the CTO to bring about unification of all spend management products on top of a single stack.

The position is remote and you can be based anywhere in the U.S. The teams are distributed with architectural leadership based in the U.S. east coast and development teams being offshore.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience including deep hands-on technical expertise
• 5+ years of experience directly managing, mentoring, and growing engineers
• 5+ years of experience attracting, hiring, and maintaining top talent
• 5+ years of experience in partnering with product and design leadership to achieve objectives

Preferred Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Track record of building, delivering, and monitoring mission-critical, 24x7 SAAS production systems.
• Experience delivering software on strict timelines with optimal solutions
• Experience creating clear, measurable quality goals for the organization
