Role Summary/Purpose:
Reporting to the VP, Surveillance Leader - Process and Supplier, the VP, Surveillance Manager is primarily responsible for managing the execution of surveillance around Tech & Ops L3 processes, (primarily Servicing and Operations Support) and delivering Insights to Process Owners to allow understanding of how their processes are performing against key risks.
You will lead an international team of surveillance experts ensuring our Surveillance Tests are designed to identify risk, and the Insights we communicate help Process Owners understand the risks that are identified. In this role you will partner closely with all three lines of defense and support strategic initiatives to help protect our Customers, our Clients and the Bank. Successful candidates have deep domain leadership experience in Technology & Operations, strong comprehension of risk management and surveillance governance activities, and are effective communicators who collaborate cross-functionally with results.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Leadership of the surveillance team delivering Insights for processes within Servicing and Operations Support. Fostering a culture founded in Empowering our Team to explore potential risks, develop and grow to their career aspirations and deliver strong execution to mitigate risks.
- Communicate Surveillance Insights with all levels of leadership to help drive effective root cause understanding to address risks identified.
- Periodically review Surveillance design for each L3 and drive enhancements and optimization ensuring the strongest risk mitigation possible as applicable to the Surveillance Policy.
- Partner cross functionally on key business initiatives to help identify risks of process changes or new programs ensuring we deliver expected results for our Clients and Customers.
- Work collaboratively across surveillance to ensure compliance with the Surveillance Policy, conduct Quarterly Surveillance Refreshes and lead team executing Surveillance Coverage Maps across multiple Tech & Op functions to execute the Surveillance Plan.
- Develop and plan for day-1 surveillance activities for business changes or new products / initiatives by working with various pillars within Surveillance.
- Escalate potential Issues via the Issue Governance program ensuring proper oversight and communication when process breaks occur.
- Monitor changes within the business and drive upskilling of the surveillance team and enhancements of surveillance routines.
- Be a strategic partner with Process Owners and 2nd LOD, assisting with Governance questions: Issue Governance, RCSA, Change Control, Surveillance and others.
- Serve as Surveillance Lead on business wide projects brining in risk mitigation point of view, ensuring projects are successful and maintain Bank safety.
- Guide team through Audit Engagements working with the Build Pillar to provide quick and clear responses asked during engagements from 2nd LOD, 3rd LOD and outside audits.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 8+ years of Surveillance, Financial Services, Control or Compliance experience or in lieu of degree High School diploma/GED and 12+ years of Surveillance, Financial Services, Control or Compliance experience.
- 4+ years of People leadership and management experience
Desired Characteristics:
- Experience working with Audit/Risk Testing
- Understanding of Issue Management process
- Strong knowledge of Servicing and Operations Support processes.
- Knowledge of Consumer Bank
- Proficient leadership in a matrixed organization with a global footprint.
- Highly motivated with ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Strong analytical and professional communication (verbal and written) skills.
- Excellent organization, prioritization, and time management skills.
- Experience communicating with all levels (Senior Leadership to front line)
- Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects through to completion with minimal supervision.
- Proven track record of using sound judgment in decision making & problem solving.
- Strong overall business perspective.
- Creativity and high energy level.
Grade/Level: 13
The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
