We focus all hiring efforts in a few states and within driving distance of an office location to enable in-person collaboration when and where possible. Priority hiring locations are Scottsdale, AZ, Illinois, NY tri-state metro area (New Jersey, New York and Connecticut) and San Francisco, CA. On exception we will hire in secondary locations such as District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. We are not actively recruiting in Colorado, Rhode Island or Washington.

Overall Purpose

The VP of Technology Risk is the lead evangelist and visionary for all things risk related in the technology organization. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this leader will be responsible for strategic direction, creating efficiencies and maturing our first line of defense risk management capabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Solution oriented - you must be able to find a balance between efficiency of processes and meeting the requirements of stakeholders and regulators. Compromise and being able to bring people with diverse requests along the journey to a solution are among the most important facets of this role.
  • Lead a high-performance team - provide exceptional leadership in developing highly engaged, high-performance teams.
  • Influence IT risk strategy - you will need to be one step ahead of regulatory requirements and be able to draw on your experience to turn ambiguous requests into concrete deliverables. You must be able to anticipate future needs and not constantly be playing catch-up.
  • Measure and manage technology risk - develop capabilities to measure and predict risk and influence technology/IT risk appetite at the executive table. Your strategy will need to align to second line programs and the overall company risk strategy.
  • Be a champion - inculcate first line risk program across the organization, embedding strong risk culture and practices, leadership commitment and ownership of results.
  • Support company risk strategy - support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor's degree.
  • In depth knowledge of risk management programs in a three-lines-of-defense structure, best practices, methodologies, and frameworks typically gained through twelve (12) or more years in a senior risk management role with seven (7) or more years of demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading an enterprise-wide technology/IT risk management program in a highly regulated environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT and security risk and control framework standards such as SOC2, COBIT, ISO PCI-DSS, etc.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Effective leadership skills and demonstrated success developing highly engaged, high performing teams.
  • Background and drug screen.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The pay scale for this position in CA in USD per year is:

a minimum of $260,000;

a maximum of $290,000
