VP, Token Investments

What is the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic VP, Token Investments to lead token investing, portfolio management and trading. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in crypto investments, exceptional management skills, and a proven track record in trading and portfolio management.  This role will report to the Chief Strategy Officer and play a pivotal role in the DCG Investment Committee. 

What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Token Investment Strategy: 

• Develop and implement the firm’s token investment strategy, including identifying high-potential investment opportunities. 

• Evaluate market trends and emerging technologies to guide investment decisions and optimize portfolio performance. 

Portfolio Management: 

• Oversee the management of the firm’s token portfolio, ensuring alignment with investment goals and risk tolerance. 

• Conduct thorough due diligence on potential public and private token investments and manage the lifecycle of investments from acquisition to exit. 

• Managing, growing, and maintaining a deep network of relationships with developers, investors, and other industry players to stay at the cutting edge of next-generation projects and ideas 

• Identifying and deeply evaluating key valuation drivers, thematic views, industry trends, and idiosyncratic considerations with respect to early-stage crypto networks and businesses 

Trading and Operations: 

• Lead trading strategies team and execution, ensuring optimal liquidity and positioning in the market. 

• Oversee investment operations, including transaction execution, settlement, and reconciliation processes. 

Team Leadership and Development: 

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of investment professionals, traders, and operational staff. 

• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture to drive performance and achieve strategic objectives. 

Stakeholder Engagement: 

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key industry stakeholders, portfolio company founders and leaders, regulatory bodies, and other investment entities. 

• Represent the firm at industry events and conferences. 

Risk Management: 

• Develop and implement risk management frameworks to mitigate potential risks associated with token investments. 

• Monitor and manage portfolio risk, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. 

What You’ll Bring:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in investment management and finance 

• Minimum 5 years in cryptocurrency with a focus on token investments and crypto assets 

• Minimum 5 years of trading experience, with a deep understanding of market analysis and investment strategies 
  • *Note: overlapping experience is sufficient as long as there has been exposure to each of these verticals 

Crypto Expertise:  

• In-depth, holistic knowledge of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, including blockchain technology, tokenomics, and market dynamics. 

Investing/Trading Proficiency:  

• Extensive experience in trading and managing crypto assets, with a deep understanding of market analysis and investment strategies. 

Management Skills:  

• Proven track record in managing investment teams and operations, with exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills. 

• Sets a positive example for others by following high ethical standards 

• Comfort working in a start-up environment and excited to engage in strategic thinking for new initiatives.  You’re also eager to participate in other projects/tasks outside of your specific purview for the greater good of the organization.

 Education:  

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
