Officer position responsible for providing overall underwriting excellence through management and tactical direction for a product line or segment. Directs the development of the implementation strategy and operational objectives for a product line or segment, in accordance with the company's strategic plans.

Job Summary
Officer position responsible for providing overall underwriting excellence through strategic direction to meet the needs of large loss sensitive construction brokers and clients. Responsible for driving business growth and managing the risk portfolio to deliver profitable results.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
- Provides strategic direction and leadership for the Large & Complex Construction segment. Develop and implement strategies and operational objectives to achieve growth, profitability, operational improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Develops and maintains underwriting best practices, in accordance with federal and state regulations, to ensure the integrity of the segment.
- Conducts market analysis to stay up to date on industry trends, emerging risks, market conditions and regulatory changes that could affect the portfolio. Develops best practices and strategies to address as needed.
- Evaluates underwriting portfolio performance based on financial analysis. Includes rate, reserve adequacy, operational, planning and product reviews. Provides results to members of the senior management team and develops plans to resolve issues.
- Acts as senior level referral officer for exceptions to strategy, guidelines and authority for the segment.
- Collaborates with business partners in Risk Control, Actuarial, Claim, Worldwide Operations and Compliance to address governance and compliance issues related to underwriting practices.
- Leads, directs and has full management accountability for team of insurance professionals with an emphasis on attracting, developing and succession planning in accordance with strategic direction.
- Responsible for business development and client relationship management. Identifying new business opportunities and securing leads. Maintains key customer relationships to understand clients' needs and develops solutions as appropriate.
- Develops thought leadership content to be shared internally or externally through industry speaking engagements, podcasts and social media platforms.
May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
1. Mastery of underwriting discipline and knowledge in the insurance field and a broad understanding of the critical issues in other related areas, including loss sensitive Construction programs and wrap ups.
2. Advanced communication skills which are critical to building consensus across area of influence (external and/or internal relationships), teams and/or matrix environment.
3. Strong leadership and management skills demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
4. Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving significant problems within scope of responsibility.
5. Senior level knowledge of the insurance industry, its products and services.
6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
Education & Experience
1. Bachelor's degree with Master's preferred in a related discipline, or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 15 years of related work experience, with seven years management experience.
3. Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Construction Risk Insurance Professional (CRIS) designation preferred.
