GENERAL SUMMARY
The Data Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and ensuring the remediation of potential risks related to information management (i.e. Data Risk). The incumbent will oversee the development and implementation of risk management strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements. The Data Risk Manager works closely with the Director of Data Governance to ensure the successful implementation of the Data Governance Program across business areas by ensuring Enterprise-wide compliance to data governance policies and standards through effective reviews and challenges of 1LOD business partners/stakeholders. The ideal candidate will lead key data governance projects while working in partnership with domain data stewards, data owners and Technology teams.
DIRECT REPORTS
The Data Risk Manager will have 2-3 direct reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Other responsibilities of the Data Risk Manager include:
- Execute Data Risk Assessment and Policy gap assessments of data domains and data-related projects.
- Oversee the implementation of the Data Domain playbook.
- Collaborate with operational and reporting data stewards to perform data controls testing.
- Maintain ongoing communication with data stewards to ensure critical data issues are communicated timely for remediation.
- Provide on-going monitoring and resolution of self-identified issues around data sourcing, data quality, data aggregation, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining an accurate Enterprise critical report inventory with associated reporting metadata.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize risk mitigation efforts and establish policies and/or standards to enhance data controls.
- Educate and train business partners on data risk awareness and best practices for mitigating data risk.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Master's degree or Data Governance certification (CDMP, CIMP, DGSP, etc.) a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years of Data Governance/ Data Management experience; experience with financial services is preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of management experience.
- Experience and confidence in working with stakeholders across a wide variety of roles, including senior management.
- Experience working and effectively collaborating with reporting, operations, and technology teams.
- BCBS 239 experience is a plus.
Skills/Ability:
- Thorough understanding of data governance principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with business partners.
- Logical, structured approach to planning, problem solving, prioritizing and decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good management skills.
OTHER DETAILS
$125K - $175K / year
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
