The Role
The role is responsible for market access, value and pricing strategy and implementation. This will involve activities and relationships with potential and current customers within the payer community, patients/caregivers, policy makers, value influencers, healthcare providers, as well as internal team members. The ideal candidate will spearhead efforts to develop and implement the capabilities, strategies and activities to enable AlloVir to effectively launch and commercialize its first commercial product (posoleucel), future product launches, as well as provide input to shape the development and strategy for pipeline assets to ensure market access and achieve business sustainability.
He/she will lead and deliver the development and execution of the market access strategy globally with strong operational focus in the US for the first launch. This includes the development and execution of the product’s value proposition, payer strategy across all payer types, pricing and reimbursement strategy, trade and distribution strategy, health economics and value evidence plan, coordinate and administer internal access and trade related policies, health technology assessment (HTA) development and HTA body engagement, and support for the development of strategies and messages to patients, caregivers, providers, policymakers, payers , media, and investors, as appropriate.
He/she will lead a team responsible to ensure optimal access and reimbursement for patients and customers, contracting with payers, provide access and reimbursement expertise and support across different functions to achieve business sustainability, including serving as a subject matter expert and providing recommendations and updates to the Senior Management Team and Board of Directors.
The role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer and interfaces directly with all the functions involved in the development and establishment of the value proposition for our assets: Marketing, Business Leadership, Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Public Affairs, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, Finance, etc.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelors degree, MBA preferred
- 15+ years of biotech/pharma market access/commercialization experience with minimum 5 years of experience in anti-infectives, transplant or advanced therapies/rare diseases.
- In-depth understanding of the US pharmaceutical marketplace and trends and in-line experience
- Demonstrated experience working on strategy development for a marketed or soon to be marketed brand
- Demonstrated expert in payer account management, contracting and negotiation
- Deep understanding of U.S. pharmaceutical/Advanced Therapies access landscape including commercial and government payers, Hospital dynamics, GPOs, Pharmacy and Distributors, policy makers and advocacy groups
- Demonstrated experience and ability to engage and establish trusted relationships internally and externally
- Demonstrated expertise developing and implementing market access strategies, specifically in a science-driven biopharmaceutical company focused on developing innovative therapeutics.
- Demonstrated experience leading high performing external and internal teams with high levels of engagement, managing external consultants
- Successful budget management
- Demonstrated high level of integrity in decision-making
- Ability to act decisively and quickly while aligning with multiple stakeholders
Desired
- Experience with global/ex-US market access, value and strategy
- Experience working with global teams and understanding of ex-US markets

Budget and Decision-Making Authority
- Responsibility for key decisions and recommendations on market access strategy, go-to-market approach, pricing and commercialization that directly impact the success of the brands and ultimately the organization. Develop and manage the market access, pricing, and value budget, in alignment with senior leadership approval. Responsible to ensure the organization’s compliance with all the legal and market regulations with regards to access, pricing and value.
- 1-20 direct reports, lead cross functional team of 30-50+ people
- Responsible for delivering the net sales budget for posoleucel, revenue deductions, and Market Access functional expense budget
Other requirements
Travel required, nationally and internationally, about 30%+ of the time
Ability for hybrid work, with minimal requirement to be in Waltham office at least 30% of the time
