This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a VR & Network Strategy Specialist (OR Scientist) in India.
In this role, you will contribute to the design and optimization of large-scale transportation and supply chain networks through advanced operations research and data-driven modeling. You will work on solving complex network design and optimization problems that directly impact global freight and logistics performance. By developing analytical models, simulations, and optimization frameworks, you will help improve decision-making across end-to-end supply chain operations. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, data, and business stakeholders to translate operational challenges into scalable analytical solutions. This position combines deep research expertise with hands-on experimentation and prototype development. Your work will directly influence efficiency, cost optimization, and service quality across a global logistics network. It is a high-impact role within a fast-evolving environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement.
Accountabilities:
- Lead operations research initiatives focused on network planning, optimization, and end-to-end supply chain design
- Design and develop advanced analytical prototypes and optimization models for logistics and transportation use cases
- Translate business requirements into mathematical models, simulations, and scalable decision-support tools
- Conduct scenario analysis, performance analytics, and experimentation to identify optimization opportunities
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deploy and operationalize research-driven solutions
- Analyze large datasets to support modeling, validation, and continuous improvement of solutions
- Communicate results, assumptions, and model outcomes to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Support strategic decision-making through forecasting, predictive analytics, and prescriptive optimization techniques
- Master’s or PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience building data science, optimization, or analytics models in industry, ideally in logistics or transportation
- Strong expertise in operations research techniques such as combinatorial optimization, linear/non-linear programming, or stochastic optimization
- Experience with predictive and prescriptive analytics, including forecasting, simulation, or reinforcement learning methods
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java
- Strong understanding of data analysis, experimentation, and rapid prototyping methodologies
- Experience working with large-scale datasets and analytics tools in production environments
- Familiarity with tools such as Git and Jira in collaborative development settings
- Strong communication skills with ability to present complex analytical concepts clearly
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience in supply chain, logistics, or transportation analytics is highly desirable
