Wall Panel and Truss Designer

Van Metre is seeking a Wall Panel and Truss Designer.  This position offers the ability to work a fully remote work schedule, Monday through Friday.  You would be provided the option of working on site at our Northern Virginia locations if you choose. 

The Wall Panel and Truss Designer will be responsible for wood roof, floor, and wall component designs on a variety of residential projects. The Designer will create component designs based on project specifications and company standards for estimation and production using design software. The Designer will also be responsible for updating and maintaining design logs and spreadsheets.

Essential Functions:

• Create component designs, layouts, and production reports using design software and by reviewing all project construction documents.
• Adhere to department standards to provide quality products while reducing waste and expense
• Keep track of projects and provides related metric data.
• Demonstrate commitment to teamwork by cooperating with positive attitude with coworkers, supervisor, and other divisions in achieving company goals, contributing ideas, suggestions, to help division improve performance in service, production or problem solving.
• Continuing growth and education in construction and design software
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related area or relevant work experience
• Ability to read Architectural and Structural construction documents
• Mitek Software Suite preferred, however training will be provided 
• 3+ years Component Design or Building Industry and/or Mitek software preferred
