POSITION SUMMARY:
This person will ensure that an in-depth failure analysis process to determine root cause, containment, corrective actions and customer response is being followed. They will m onitor, track, analyze and report on warranty claims data in customer warranty systems and directly with customers on a regimented basis. The Warranty Engineer will act as part Project Manager and part Quality Engineer for a specific customer or specific group of customers. This person will be responsible for working closely with the Magna Holly Business Units to ensure customer satisfaction concerning warranty performance. They will interface with other staff as needed and be comfortable working independently or in a team environment to support the rapid disposition of warranty returns. A knowledge of electronics and the warranty systems of Magna Electronics' main customers is a plus.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  1. Knowledge of OEM warranty systems including PRAS+, EWT, WIS, PartLink, PRTS.
  2. Bachelor's degree with a focus in electronics or 5 years experience in automotive warranty
  3. Demonstrated analytical skills including the ability to analyze electrical and mechanical product failures.
  4. Demonstrated analytical skills including the ability to use Microsoft Office tools.
  5. Must possess strong analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  6. Must have ability to group and manipulate data to help the organization understand warranty impact and developing trends.
  7. Demonstrate good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external customers.
  8. Must be able to work independently or in a team and complete a high volume of work within a required time.

DUTIES:
The Warranty Engineer is an integral part of the success of the Magna Electronics organization. They must:
  1. Understand customer warranty agreements and requirements.
  2. Track incoming warranty returned parts ensuring that customer response timing requirements are being met.
  3. Assist in swift implementation of containment actions, engaging necessary Engineering or Manufacturing personnel.
  4. Work with a team to generate problem solving reports (8D, 5Y, Fishbone, Is/Is not, etc.) that may be shared with internal or external customers.
  5. Work directly with customers to report, problem solve and help reduce warranty concerns with end users of Magna produced products.
  6. Generate warranty presentations for management and customers to increase awareness, establish priorities and get buy-in on appropriate actions.
  7. Interface with Project Management, Engineering, and Quality as required, ensuring warranty issues are being addressed.
  8. Provide and closely monitor analytical warranty data on regimented basis.
  9. Participate in Business Unit design and manufacturing activities to ensure that all historical and current quality related information is closely monitored.
  10. Work with Warranty Technicians and Engineers, as appropriate, to determine proper warranty analysis methods and review results.
  11. Participate in CIP (Continuous Improvement Processes) activities. May work on projects involving cost reduction, warranty reduction, or evaluation of new equipment, etc.
  12. Perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
