Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Civilian Positions of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is located at Ice Harbor Lock and Dam which is located on the Lower Snake River.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: Perform common tasks of a Water Pump Repairer including repairing and maintaining automated underground irrigation systems to include various types of pumps; operating a variety of gas and diesel powered heavy equipment; performing general carpentry projects and repairs; AND operate and maintain hand and power tools. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision
  • Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
  • Knowledge of Materials
  • Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)
  • Technical Problem Solving
