Web Application Developer

Job Title Web Application Developer (Perl CGI / SQL / Open Source Platform) Job Duties • Develop and maintain Perl CGI web-based applications that interact with a SQL backend database (Oracle) on an open-source platform (Linux). • Generate dynamic web content by querying backend databases. • Test and document development code prior to release into production. • Meet with end users to gather requirements and details for bugs and enhancements. • Implement bug fixes and enhancements as assigned through the Bugzilla tracking system. • Participate in code reviews and peer reviews, ensuring quality, testing, and documentation of modifications. • Utilize Git as the source repository and collaborate with team members to develop or correct application issues. Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related IT field with a focus on software development. • Minimum of one year of experience with: • JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL, with a strong understanding of relational databases. • CGI web-based application development using Perl (PHP or Python may substitute for Perl) on open-source platforms (e.g., LAMP stack). • One year of working knowledge of Linux operating systems (Shell preferred). • Ability to navigate the operating system at the command-line level, including creating and editing files using the VI editor.
