Job Description
Zello is a voice-first communication platform, powered by our industry-leading push-to-talk technology, to improve collaboration and productivity for desk-less workers. With over 175+ million users, we’re the #1 rated push-to-talk app in the world, delivering 8 billion (yes, with a B) messages a month.
At Zello, our company values are at the heart of what we do everyday. We’re proud to serve the frontline, we’re privileged to connect people in times of crisis across the globe, and we’re honored to support first responders.
And this is where you come in.
As a Web Designer at Zello, you will ensure that web properties – zello.com, Zendesk sites, Hubspot pages, and emails — look great, work great, and stay that way. Zello.com sees thousands of visitors daily, and with a great team backing you, you have the tools necessary to flex your own design skills, learn from a larger team, and enact the changes you’d like to see happen.
Zello.com is one of few top-of-funnel sources in our sales model. While most of our resources go towards user-facing apps, work on zello.com is uniquely positioned to be both self-directed and highly impactful. If you want to show how your unique work makes a difference to a business, look no further.
What you'll doYou’ll maintain existing components, and design and develop new components on zello.com and other web-based properties. You’ll work closely with the design director on updates to specific pieces of content, collaborate with our visual design on broader system updates, and work with our digital marketer on new pages and email templates. You’ll work with our researcher to test which designs yield better outcomes, and build on their work to do your own most impactful work.
What you'll bringProficiency in Sketch
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript
Desire to see the job done. You’re not a copywriter, but when the page needs copy, you can try.
An ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners, from researchers and PMs to engineers and marketers.
A cross-functional mindset — part of your work exists in design, and another in engineering — and you can choose to hone either.
An experimental approach — your thousand ideas can be tested against each other to see which impacts.
A growth mindset — you want to grow, and will use this opportunity to do so
Nice to haves:
Familiarity with postCSS and SCSS
Familiarity with Typescript
Familiarity with React
We hire for potential, passion for our mission, and a knack for solving difficult problems over checking every qualification box. We have competitive pay, equity with significant upside, and intentionally design our benefits to encourage healthy and well-balanced employees, from flexible work schedules to unlimited paid time off. We even offer a sabbatical after every five years of service so you’re able to pursue and enjoy what matters most to you. And of course, we wouldn’t be a technology company in Austin without a ping-pong table and free snacks in our break room. Join us!
