Web Developer, Senior, Open Source
Job Description
This is a remote US-based job where you must be legally able to work in the United States and be physically located in the US. We're looking for a creative, flexible thinker who has a proven track record of finding, developing, and communicating the right solution for the job, be it a custom-built Laravel web application or custom plugins for WordPress. Internal and client-facing communication are both critical, so an ability to communicate clearly, especially written, is required. If you are a developer who meets these requirements, who is able to translate client needs and designs into clear requirements & elegant visitor experiences, and are eager to collaborate in close-knit teams creating solutions that push boundaries, then we would love to hear from you.
This is a development position, so code is involved
- Be ready to review some code examples of solutions that you created. A link to a Git repo or Bitbucket repo gives us something to look at together.
- Be ready to discuss your code, to talk about it, walking us through your thinking and reasoning why you wrote it the way you did. What worked, what didn't work, etc.
- Be ready to talk about how long it took to create the solutions. How off was the time it took from the original estimate? Did you give input on the estimate, or was it decided by others and simply imparted to you?
Requirements
- At least 3 years of full-stack high-performing WordPress development
- At least 3 years of full-stack custom Laravel development, not just the back-end architecture, but also front-end views
- At least 2 years of React or Vue development, particularly front-end websites interfacing with REST APIs or GraphQL connections
- Demonstrable experience in PHP and JavaScript software development best practices, including test development, MVC architecture, and SOLID principles
- Deep experience building cross-browser/cross-platform responsive websites
- Thorough understanding of WordPress plugin development
- Experience with SQL schema and database architecture and optimization
- Excellent knowledge of collaborative team development workflows using git and deployment pipelines
- Strong experience with content migrations from existing websites
- Experience integrating with common 3rd-party CRM, email marketing, and payment platforms
- Clear understanding of accessibility principles including WCAG requirements
- Experience breaking down requirements into clear development plans and budgets
- This position requires a B2 CEFR level of spoken and written English language proficiency
- Comfortable working productively with a distributed team
- At ease communicating clearly with clients
- Experience setting up the infrastructure necessary to run a Laravel or WordPress sites (web hosting, CDN, DNS, SSL, etc)
- Has an understanding of virtualization and experience with some flavor of virtual environments such as Docker or Vagrant
- Experience creating task runners using Node, such as Webpack and Gulp
