Web GIS Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Web GIS Developer based in India.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Web GIS Developer to build enterprise-grade geospatial applications that support advanced mapping, spatial analysis, and business decision-making. In this fully remote role, you will design and enhance scalable GIS solutions using modern web technologies and industry-standard geospatial services. Working alongside GIS specialists, developers, and business stakeholders, you will help transform complex spatial data into intuitive, high-performance applications. • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level Web GIS applications and geospatial services to support business and operational needs.
• Build interactive web mapping applications that enable visualization, spatial analysis, and effective management of geospatial data.
• Develop and integrate GIS services using industry-standard APIs, OGC standards, and geospatial web service architectures.
• Manage vector, raster, tiled datasets, and spatial data workflows while optimizing storage, retrieval, and processing performance.
• Perform geoprocessing, spatial analysis, map rendering, and system integrations with GIS platforms, databases, and external applications.
• Ensure GIS applications meet high standards for scalability, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate with GIS analysts, developers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot technical issues, and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Create technical documentation and support deployment, testing, maintenance, and ongoing enhancements of GIS applications.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Geomatics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 6–8 years of professional software development experience, including enterprise-scale application development.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, object-oriented programming, and modern web development practices.
• Solid knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial data models, coordinate reference systems (CRS), map projections, and geodesy concepts.
• Hands-on experience working with vector, raster, tiled datasets, and geospatial data processing workflows.
• Familiarity with geospatial formats and services including GeoJSON, Shapefile, KML, WMS, WFS, ArcGIS Services, and Vector Tiles.
• Experience with spatial indexing, spatial queries, enterprise GIS platforms, and OGC-compliant web services.
• Proficiency with modern JavaScript frameworks and GIS libraries such as OpenLayers, Leaflet, ArcGIS API for JavaScript, or similar mapping technologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in distributed teams.
