Our customers spend more time with their families, expand their businesses, invest in sustainable practices, and grow as a result of new opportunities. We’re a passionate team that believes manufacturing is a vital component of our everyday lives and the backbone of our economy. We’re dedicated to providing this invaluable industry with a cloud-native platform that empowers the next generation of manufacturers to join the digital age. From life-saving medical devices to critical components that unlock new depths of outer space, our customers produce parts that go into some of the world’s coolest and most impactful products. Without manufacturing, many new ideas never become a reality. It is our mission to enable manufacturers with the technology they need to drive innovation – and our world – forward.
Paperless Parts is a team of motivated and hardworking creators and doers. If you’re looking to have a direct impact on a fast-scaling company that is revolutionizing an entire industry, read on and apply!  Â
Due to the nature of our business and interaction with external clients, Paperless Parts has a COVID-19 vaccination mandate. (Unvaccinated persons may request medical or religious accommodations on a case-by-case basis).Â
Building a great user experience for our customers is core to our strategy here at Paperless Parts. That’s why, we are looking for a WebGL Developer who is not only passionate about the technology they use, but is invested in the success of our customers.
Our development pods are data driven and outcome focused, built around specific short term and long term goals. This allows our teams to wholly own the success of our customers. As a WebGL Developer you will work in the Geometry pod, and collaborate with your teammates, which include backend computational geometry developers, designers and product managers, to build full end to end features in our Part Viewer for 3D CAD data. You will also work with other Front End developers to improve the tooling and infrastructure for our tech stack. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director, Computational Geometry.Â
Who you are:
You’re an individual with high attention to detail. You care about the user experience of the product because you know how it impacts our customers. You have a strong opinion about what a good user experience is and can build toward achieving that vision. You’ve worked within an agile environment before and know how to collaborate with your team in an iterative fashion to achieve team goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain features in our WebGL, browser based, part viewer for 3D CAD data.
- Collaborating with other Computational Geometry engineers who process 3D CAD data and make the geometry and other geometric analysis to the part viewer
- Collaborating with other Front End engineers who have interfaces to the part viewer, and enhancing our FrontEnd tech stack by improving our build tools and automation.
- Here are examples of what you might be doing in a particular day:
- Write code to load, render and interact with 3D CAD models (parts, assemblies and drawings) that our users want to manufacture.
- Use your creativity to develop powerful and useful user experiences to interact with the geometry visualized in the part viewer.
- Render geometric analysis and feedback in the context of the 3D models and create a UI that allows designers and manufacturers to interact with and understand the feedback.
- Models include a lot of detail such as Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) that can be overwhelming to visualize all at once. Utilize your experience and creativity to create interfaces to help navigate this detail in manageable chunks and provide decision support when inspecting a model to be manufactured.
- Collaborating with UX designers to solve design and usability problems
- Creating unit tests to ensure quality in our UI components
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Bachelor's Degree in computer Science, Engineering, or related field.Â
- 3-5 years related work experience
- Strong understanding of the foundations of JavaScript / HTML / CSS
- Experience with WebGL and THREE.js
- Understanding of geometry and CAD data from systems such as Solidworks, CATIA, Creo, NX, Onshape
- Experience with single page app frameworks e.g. React / Vue / Angular
- Understanding of Front End tooling and build systems - e.g. NPM / Webpack
- Experience with Front End testing libraries - jest / mocha
- Familiarity with Cloud Providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Familiarity working with Docker and its associated tooling
