Website Architecture and Development Consultant

This consultancy offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and development of a global digital knowledge platform focused on child online protection. You will play a key role in shaping the technical architecture of a modern, scalable web portal built to centralize educational resources, policy materials, and digital learning tools. Working in a highly collaborative and international environment, you will help define how complex content is structured, accessed, and discovered by diverse global audiences. The role involves building a robust foundation for a headless, API-driven architecture that supports future AI-powered search and discovery capabilities. You will translate strategic requirements into functional, user-friendly digital systems that enhance accessibility and usability. This position is ideal for a technical expert passionate about impactful digital platforms and meaningful global initiatives.

• Design and support the technical architecture of a large-scale digital resource portal aligned with modern headless web principles
• Develop database structures, metadata models, and content taxonomies to organize and structure diverse digital resources
• Define and implement API-based architectures (REST/GraphQL) to support seamless content delivery and integration with other systems
• Contribute to the design of a WordPress-based headless CMS, including custom post types, data relationships, and content models
• Structure and virtualize existing educational and policy resources into a searchable, filterable digital repository
• Design information architecture and user navigation flows to ensure intuitive access for multiple user groups
• Develop scalable search, filtering, and discovery functionalities based on metadata and tagging frameworks
• Ensure system alignment with future AI-enabled search and knowledge discovery capabilities
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and documentation for portal structure, navigation, and system architecture
• Collaborate with technical and project teams to ensure usability, accessibility, and long-term maintainability

Requirements:

• University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Instructional Design, Telecommunications, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in web architecture, digital platforms, or knowledge management systems
• Strong expertise in WordPress and headless CMS architectures, including API-driven systems
• Proven experience designing and implementing database-driven platforms and structured content repositories
• Solid understanding of metadata frameworks, taxonomy design, and search/discovery systems
• Familiarity with modern web development practices, including DevOps, CI/CD, and version control (e.g., Git)
• Ability to translate complex functional requirements into scalable and practical technical solutions
• Experience working on international or large-scale digital projects is an asset
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
• Excellent English communication skills; additional UN languages are an advantage
