Welder/Fabricator (Custom Fabrication Shop)
Job Description
Job Purpose
The Welder/Fabricator fabricates and assembles metal products according to customer and employer specifications in a high-end custom ornamental metals and architectural products manufacturing operation. The Welder/Fabricator must be competent in both MIG and TIG welding, and will use these welding techniques, along with general fabrication methods, such as drilling, cutting, shearing and rolling, to complete final assembles.

• Ability to fabricate from professional blueprints and or shop drawings
• Familiar with a variety of metal welding and grinding/sanding techniques working to a very high degree of accuracy and finish
• Familiar with common metal shop tools and equipment (i.e. torches, grinders, drills, taps, saws, fixtures, measuring, and TIG/MIG welding)
• Fabricate from raw material to finished product
• Works in a safe manner always and is conscientious of people in the surrounding area (ex. arc flash)
• Ensure that production schedule is met by completing tasks in the allocated timeline, working with the Manager/Supervisor to address any issues or concerns
• Selects and/or verifies materials, processes and equipment required to perform assigned jobs
• Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
• 2-5 years of MIG/TIG welding
• Skilled in a variety of metal welding and finishing technique
• Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair.
• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.

Working conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
The employee must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
Position type/ expected hours of work
Full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Ability to work overtime as required to meet customer and business schedules.
