JOB SUMMARY

The Wellness Coordinator role provides leadership in developing, organizing, administering, and culturally integrating a comprehensive health & wellness program for Southern Company Gas employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement and coordinate effective wellness programs and disease prevention projects tailored to the specific needs, assessment, and risk identifications of Southern Company Gas employees.
  • Collaborate with the management team and acts as a consultant to internal departments in the assessment, tracking and cost analysis of work-site health management and wellness programs.
  • Oversee corporate wellness operations, acts as a liaison with field locations, and manage employee incentive reimbursement programs.
  • Support for Southern Company Gas retirees. Partner with chapter presidents of each location to host meetings to discuss a variety of topics from open enrollment to encouraging healthy lifestyles.
This role is located in Atlanta, GA and reports to the Director, HR Operations, support extends to all Southern Company Gas employees including Headquarters, SouthStar, Atlanta Gas & Light, Chattanooga Gas, Virginia Natural Gas, and Nicor Gas.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Effective leader, organized, strong interpersonal skills, and delivers sound judgment in retaining confidentiality regarding sensitive and confidential data.
  • Strong, creative project management skills to development innovative strategies to support wellness initiatives.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of wellness and health management theory and practice. Familiarity with behavioral change, metrics, and reporting.
  • General knowledge of health and medical issues to provide resource information to employees and management.
  • Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory and compliance issues, specifically related to disability, health, and welfare benefits.
  • General knowledge of Company network, departmental organizations, and employees statewide to share information, gather facts, and facilitate the attainment of goals.
  • Partner with Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Workers Compensation, and Disability Management to support a healthy and safe work environment.
  • This position requires travel to other parts of Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois, and Virginia to oversee special health enhancement programs, wellness presentations, and health screenings.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ensure effective integration and linkage of Southern Lifestyles components into Gas wellness programs, including health fairs, on-site screenings, health education, and "lunch & learn" programs.
  • Collaborate with the management team and act as a consultant to internal departments in the assessment, tracking and analysis of wellness programs.
  • Oversee corporate wellness operations, acts as a liaison with field and call center locations.
  • Partner with Total Rewards in developing strategies and programs with the common goal of improved employee health, attendance, and productivity.
  • Promote Fitness Center and on-site programs.
  • Work closely with the Regional Directors, Corporate Communications, and administrative support to host annual meetings with retirees.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred, but not required.
SKILLS REQUIRED

LEVEL 4

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience with program/project management and implementation
LEVEL 5

  • 5 years of progressive experience with program/project management and implementation, preferably related to wellness programs.
  • Experience with health management program design and implementation is a plus.
