JOB SUMMARY

The entry level position of Wet Etch Technician will train in the field of etch processing to prepare specified surfaces for detection of defects in gas turbine engine components. The Wet Etch Technician will be part of the Non-Destructive Testing team (NDT) and will perform work in a modern, state-of-the-art, and climate-controlled facility.


The successful candidate will be handling caustic acids to apply acid etching to repaired surfaces in preparation for certified NDT personnel to inspect and validate proper repairs to the gas turbine engine components.

Through our extensive in-house training program, (OJT) the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully perform the requirements for the position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Through our extensive in-house training program, the successful applicant will be instructed via a series of computer based and hands-on training, the necessary skills of the position.

1. Prepare identified components for etch by reviewing documents and work orders,

2. Read and interpret technical drawings.

3. Process repaired parts with caustic acids called out in applicable technical drawings and record results.

4. Learn industry standards and regulations, types of materials processed, multiple methods of processing, and safety policies.

5. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and trainers.

6. Perform equipment standardization in accordance with approved work instructions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Previous experience and/or exposure working in a manufacturing environment.

2. The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading and interpretation of shop drawings.

3. Demonstrated ability to multi-task while adhering to a high attention to detail standards.

4. Shown a previous ability to successfully pass skill level tests in other trades or disciplines.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school or technical school graduate or equivalent.

2. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

3. Previous experience and/or the ability to perform mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.

4. Previous experience or familiarity with measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.

5. Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to learn.

6. Ability to communicate and work in a team environment. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. This position has pre-employment testing requirements that includes a vision test for visual acuity, color perception, and shades of gray.

2. Follow general shop safety procedures including the use of safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and hearing protection when required.

3. Work in varying positions from time to time. Stand and/or sit for portions of the shift. Move parts (>50 pounds) using hoists, slings, carts, or other handling methods. Move less heavy parts (
