Windows System Engineer, End-User Computing
Job Description
Samsung SDS America (SDSA) is looking for an End-User Computing Engineer to work within the Windows Team at Samsung Austin R&D Center (SARC). In this role you will work on the Enterprise IT team which manages, designs, and deploys core infrastructure services. You will be responsible for maintaining, designing, supporting and deploying both end-user physical Windows devices (Desktops, Laptops); as well as Virtual computing environments (Horizon VDI); as well as software deployments. These systems empower a team of ~600 highly skilled engineers to design and develop SoC for a multitude of Samsung products.
As an End-User Computing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with senior team members, grow your expertise in cutting-edge technologies, and get hands-on experience in a complex enterprise environment. The team is looking for someone who is passionate about technology and wants to work with a dynamic team.
This role will work a hybrid schedule in our office located in Austin, TX (3 days office (MWF)/2 days work from home).

Responsibilities:
- Service owner for Windows Image development and deployment across various end-user computing scenarios
- Deploy and configure Windows operating systems across the organization, ensuring standardization and adherence to best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement efficient deployment strategies for Windows OS images across multiple office locations
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Windows OS deployment, including driver compatibility, software conflicts, and system performance
- Develop and maintain deployment documentation, including procedures, scripts, and configuration guides
- Monitor and optimize Horizon VDI infrastructure to ensure performance, scalability, and availability
- Provide technical support to end-users utilizing Horizon VDI, resolving issues related to connectivity, performance, and application access
- Collaborate with the IT team to develop and implement security policies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, tools, and features to improve end-user computing capabilities
- Conduct end-user training sessions and create user-friendly documentation to promote self-service and minimize support requests
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to end-user computing, Windows OS deployment, and Horizon VDI
- Adhere to and follow ITIL standards of Change Management, Problem Management, Incident response, and other IT operations foundations
- Participate in weekly IT on-call emergency after hours coverage 2-3 times per year
- Participate in weekly Windows team after hours rotation for critical Windows team owned services
- Adhere to SLAs set forth by the business for problem resolution using Jira ticketing system
- Provide direction to the Service Desk for problem report escalations, general troubleshooting techniques, tuning and maintenance of Windows Workstations OS and applications
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building, testing and maintaining Windows Images and facilitating Operating System Deployment (OSD) using Microsoft Endpoint Manager/SCCM and/or MDT task sequences to deploy Windows Operating systems onto bare metal laptops and desktops, as well as windows in-place upgrades
- 5+ years of experience supporting or deploying Horizon VDI or similar Virtual Desktop Infrastructure for Windows client OS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required
- Proven experience in deploying and managing Windows operating systems in an enterprise environment
- In-depth knowledge of Windows deployment technologies, such as Windows Deployment Services (WDS), Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), Microsoft Endpoint Manager
- Strong understanding of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) concepts and hands-on experience with VMware Horizon View or similar VDI platforms
- Proficiency in scripting languages, such as PowerShell, to automate deployment tasks and streamline processes
- Familiarity with system administration tasks, including Active Directory management, group policies, and software distribution
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to end-users and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred:
- Relevant certifications, such as Microsoft Certified: Windows 10 or VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Experience managing MDM solutions for both BYOD and corporate owned phones and tablets
- (MCP) Microsoft Certified Professional or (MCSE) Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert
- Modern security feature configuration and enablement of Windows 10, Windows 11
- VMware Horizon VDI - experience managing VDI infrastructure and VDI workstation polices and configurations; application streaming and delivery optimizations, performance tuning and profiling.
- Bash, Python, Perl experience and any others welcomed
Nice to have:
- MCP, MTA, MCSA, MCSE, MCIT certifications
- Scripting and automation experience with VB, Perl, or Python
- Experience with Linux Enterprise platforms
