Wireless Design and Implementation Engineer

FUNCTION: BeyondReach

SUB FUNCTION: Service Delivery

REPORT TO: Director of Service Delivery

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

LOCATION: Cedar Rapids, IA

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE: 5+ years' experience

This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing our wireless networks and systems to meet the needs of our clients. Additionally, this role will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and performance of all solutions.

What You'll Accomplish and Experience

  • Design and architect wireless networks based on client requirements, considering factors such as coverage, capacity, and reliability using a variety of applications
  • Analyze telecom infrastructure and make appropriate cost-effective design recommendations and testing requirements
  • Develop detailed technical specifications and documentation for wireless network design
  • Implement wireless solutions, including procuring and configuring hardware, software, and protocols
  • Conduct site surveys and RF analysis to assess wireless network environments and identify potential challenges
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to wireless network performance, connectivity, and security
  • Coordinate between partners CCR, and/or CCR's client to ensure order completion
  • Assist in sourcing strategies to improve efficiencies in leveraging partnership
  • Assist in developing tools and reports to improve quoting efficiencies and implementation delivery
  • Leverage quality controls to ensure products (services, hardware, and software) are delivered according to order details and rectify order discrepancies as necessary
  • Proactively plan and identify potential risks within project implementations
  • Collaborate with project managers, network engineers, and other stakeholders in communication and delivery of projects, to be on time and within budget
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, standards, and best practices related to wireless technologies
  • Provide technical support and training to internal teams and clients as needed

Desirable Previous Experience

  • Strong understanding of telecom infrastructure, and Ethernet connectivity
  • Strong understanding of wireless technologies (Both line of site and non-line of site technologies)
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, network design, Layer-2 connectivity, Internet, MPLS, SDWAN, fiber optics, microwave transmission, wireless mesh, and secure IP networking requirements including IPSec, GRE, SSL and VPN technologies
  • Strong understanding of CPE options to deliver CCR's Product Portfolio
  • Experience working with multi-vendor infrastructure
  • Hands on experience developing, migrating, maintaining and troubleshooting telecom networks
  • Strong negotiating skills to obtain best prices, terms, and conditions, including one-time and long-term contract purchases, including preparing purchase orders and placing orders
  • Solid IT background
  • Procurement experience required
  • Must have a valid driver license due to need for business travel
