 We currently have a need for a Cisco Wireless Network Engineer supporting a Global Network Infrastructure environment. The Engineer will be directly responsible for leading a 1000 location wireless access point deployment in Cisco and Aruba wireless technologies.  The major duties of this role will be the initial configuration of access points and day of migration support of sites.


Responsibilities:

  • Implement, and support WLANs by performing and documenting 802.11 wireless surveys.
  • Lead a team through the whole implementation of wireless network services.
  • Requires a self-starter who can motivate himself and others through complex network implementations.
  • Understands all that is required, both technical and non-technical, to successfully deploy a network.
  • An effective leader that can guide a team who is comprised of local IT Engineers, Vendors, Project Managers, Operations Engineers, and other Infrastructure Teams
  • Understands the dependencies of other infrastructure dependencies to the deployment of network services (cabling, cabinets, heat, etc.)
  • Can work with Network Architects to deploy a set of standardized network services.
  • Able to translate business requirements to technical requirements.
  • Working with the project management team, can create project schedules, timelines, and milestones. Able to keep a project on schedule without compromising quality.
  • Can review vendor SOW’s and recommend changes based on needs and requirements.
  • Based on project requirements create a Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Effectively manage a project schedule
  • Design access point placements for new wireless network deployments
  • Work closely with the network infrastructure team to ensure access points are deployed in desired locations and to our standards.
  • Perform wireless surveys to identify coverage gaps/performance concerns and implement remediation efforts.
  • Troubleshoot wireless issues across a large enterprise deployment.
  • Schedule and perform software and hardware updates.
  • Monitor wireless network health using 3rd party tools.
  • Create and maintain proper documentation of our wireless networks across all sites.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ recent experience as a Cisco Wireless LAN Specialist with hands-on 802.11 implementation and support experience.
  • Experience with Cisco DNA Center.
  • Experience with Aruba, Meraki and other WLAN technology.
  • Knowledge of 802.11a/g/n/ac Cisco WLC, CAPWAP, LWAPP; be able to use tools such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Ekahau, AirMagnet suite to design and support WLANS.
  • Knowledge of L2/L3 Roaming
  • Knowledge of L2/L3 and wireless security features including Access-lists, WPA/WPA2, CCKM, AES-CCMP, CCKM, 802.1X/EAP, PEAP, RADIUS and TACACS.
  • Hands-on experience and well versed in utilizing networking tools and applications, such as Cisco Works, Solarwinds, CA.
  • Active Cisco Certifications CWNA, CWNP, CWNE, CCNA Wireless, CCNP Wireless, CCIE Wireless – preferred but NOT required.
