Job Description
Summary
This position is a Work and Family Life Specialist assigned to the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka. The FFSC is the Navy's primary agency for the delivery of an array of human services programs intended to enhance the stability and self-sufficiency of individuals and families, resulting in increased operational readiness.

- Child Care National Agency Check and Inquiry (CNACI) background check is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a state driver's license.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position OR
- Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field OR
- Combination of education and specialized experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field
- Two years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR
- One year of specialized experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position OR
- A combination of graduate education and specialized education which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.
- Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns and issues and provide assistance to develop goals and plans, in order to determine appropriate referral services and options.
- Skill in preparation of presentations and public speaking in personal-large and small group settings. Effective skill in forming and retaining working relationships with peers and leadership.
- Skill in using various computer database, spreadsheet, word processing, and network programs (e.g., as Internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and FFSP databases.
- Knowledge of the formulation and execution of needs assessment tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Education
Proof of education MUST be uploaded at time of application for consideration. If degree is not conferred, you MUST provide a copy of your high school diploma or equivalent with your college transcripts.
When education is a basic requirement for the position, or when substituting education for experience, applicants MUST submit a copy of your high school transcripts, college transcript, or a list of courses which includes grades earned, completion dates, and quarter and/or semester hours earned as part of your application package. Foreign education must include evidence that it is comparable to education received at accredited educational institutions in the United States.
All substitutions of education for experience will be made in accordance with OPM approved qualification standards.
Only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. Additional information

- Selection may be tentative pending the completion of the satisfactory employment reference checks and receipt of proof of education (where applicable).
