Job Description

Are you ready to make an impact?

West Monroe isn’t a start-up firm, but we act like one.

From day one, our people have the opportunity to make a definitive personal impact for their clients and their careers. What does this mean? It means we seek out the best of the best, and then we challenge them to make us better.

If you are looking to be a “behind the scenes” technologist, this isn’t the place for you. We celebrate driven professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment. Sound interesting? Then West Monroe just might be the place for you.

Think you're up for the challenge?

West Monroe is looking for a Product Owner to join our Information & Collaboration Technology (ICT) Team to oversee the Workday Platform, which includes Financial and HCM components.  You will play a critical role in ensuring Workday is a strategic enabler for our continued rapid growth, allowing us to more easily expand internationally and through acquisition.

This role will be involved in current and future implementations and enhancements to the platform. Day-to-day tasks include release management of new features, continued development of Workday, quality assurance and testing of new features, and ownership of product documentation.

A successful person in this role has deep experience with the Workday platform, understands core architecture structure, “speaks the language” of Workday, and has played a leadership role in Workday implementations.   A candidate should also be strong in both stakeholder and team communication and will work across functions to gather requirements and ensure understanding and consensus on decisions. Experience with creating and maintaining roadmaps across the entire Workday platform is preferred. Change management will play a large role in the success of Workday enhancements and it is strongly recommended that candidates have a background in this area.

This is an exciting role that will present the challenge of helping the business define the Workday platform and related processes that will deliver value to our employee-owned firm.

  • In-depth knowledge of Workday application - HCM and FINS modules preferred
  • Ability to conduct discovery and requirements capture and documentation
  • Provide oversight of Workday data governance across multiple workstreams
  • Understanding of Workday data and integration architecture
  • Ability to provide oversight of design and architectural activities and documentation
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance best practices, test strategy, and test plans
  • Provide leadership in delivery of Workday implementations
  • Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to conduct discovery and capture business needs and requirements
  • Ability to create requirements documentation including epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to manage prioritization, road mapping, sprint planning, and release management
  • Ability to understand, document and proactively communicate dependencies, risks and issues to West Monroe leadership and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of JIRA and Agile Processes a plus
  • Scrum master knowledge/certification a plus

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of Workday capabilities and limitations and clearly communicate those to internal partners
  • Collaborate with external vendors
  • Share industry best practice information to our stakeholders
  • Provide guidance on technical system selection and process decision-making
  • Collaborate in the implementation of change management strategies for key initiatives
  • Work with stakeholders to gather, understand, and define business requirements
  • Collaborate with other departments and corporate IT groups to ensure solutions meet business requirements
  • Identify and create inventory of process best practice gaps, while maintaining system documentation
  • Manage scope, project plan, schedule and deliverables
  • Status Reporting and executive communications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, engineering, or similar preferred
  • 5-7+ years of experience in technology with 2-3+ years of experience supporting Workday applications
  • Experience working with Human Resources and Financial Services products and suites, e. Workday, ADP, other HRIS systems, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication – must be able to work well and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical resources
  • Ability to provide input and guidance to support change management activities
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate a strong desire to take on new tasks and learn new things
  • A "driver" personality - constantly pushing toward clarity and results while balancing the need for great cross-team collaboration
  • Desire to learn and continuously improve
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum sprint-based environment; understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology concepts, techniques, and ceremonies strongly preferred
