As a Workday Technology Architect, a typical day to include the following:

  • Staffed as the Lead in one or more domains on an engagement, in addition to being the overall lead Architect across all domains.
  • Has a broad understanding of the entire core platform, proving the ability to speak to clients in high level terms in any given area. Cross-functional (workstream) understanding of touchpoints/dependencies aligned with all core configuration components (for HCM this would be Setup Data, Job Setup, Organizations, Compensation, Business Processes and Configurable Security).
  • Review SOW in entirety and present to Project Manager cross-functional gaps. Review SOW with delivery teams to ensure understanding of in/out of scope items.
  • Contribute to project plan development in collaboration with project manager and practice area consultants.
  • Collaborates with sales, solutions, functional and technical team leaders to ensure the delivery of solutions.
  • Participate in cross-functional design sessions (specifically Compensation, Absence, Payroll, and Integrations) to determine design/requirement gaps, as well as synergize customer needs, specifications, design targets, development process, design standards, techniques, and tools to support overall task performance.
  • Influential communication skills, including the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages both for detailed analytical reports and executive summaries. Relates well with others with the ability to adapt style as needed.
  • Responsible for creating custom solutions as a result of discovery and the delivery process.
  • Facilitates conversations with project team to implement necessary changes across practice/functional areas, via either specific cross-functional meeting or weekly status meetings.
  • Coordination with Services team (if in scope).
  • Collaborate with functional and technical consultants to design holistic solutions for items with cross-workstream impacts. Ensures that solution design meets the client's business objectives across functional areas and integrations, in conjunction with other practice/functional area Lead Consultants.
  • Participate in client C-suite conversations as needed.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor for the PMO and Steering Committee.
  • Provides Sales Support and reviews Solutions and Deal Models and provides recommendations and updates.
  • Ensure security cohesiveness and provide oversight on security design.
  • Able to highlight cross-workstream impacts and decisions, thereby ensuring a robust and efficient system design.
  • Attend FDM or Pre-Design sessions, depending on type of engagement, to address cross-workstream impacts and help with key decisions.
  • Perform Stage Audit and Tenant Review at the end of each project stage.
  • Delivers the hard message to clients, when needed (e.g., Defect vs Change Oder, In vs Out of scope, Gaps in Workday functionality, etc.).
  • Drive POV/Best practice alignment where possible. Keep the project team aligned to best practices and answer any project level design decisions.
  • Participate in key discussions around Tenant Management, Resource Alignment, Operating Model, Cutover Planning, etc.
  • Assist in solutioning any cross-workstream complex requirements or critical defects, as needed.
  • Guide client in initial cutover task list creation.

Knowledge and Expertise of:

  • 4 to 5 plus years (at least 3 Large Enterprise projects) as a Lead experience required.
  • Workday (or other relevant ERP) project experience required along with cross-domain knowledge.
  • Experience defining global HR business and systems strategy, developing system requirements, and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of Integrations and the use of IDB to track requirements.
  • Process transformation experience preferred.
  • Recognizes and tackles difficult conversations proactively. Strong soft skills that facilitate resolution and win-win approach.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to synthesize information into clear, concise messages.
  • Proven consultative skills to guide client and internal discussions to agreement of solutions in a timely manner.
  • Experience implementing complex, practical business solutions under multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to be effectively and actively lead multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Able to prioritize and organize increasingly complex work to ensure overall timeliness and quality standards.
  • Demonstrated advanced experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Exhibits problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting issues and escalates as appropriate.
  • Demonstrated commitment and achievement to delivery excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Proven experience demonstrating initiative and curiosity to build skills in other areas by leveraging available trainings and ERP specific documentation
  • Workday (or other relevant ERP) certified in at least one discipline as well as on-going successful recertification is a requirement.
  • Successful completion of select Workday Certification(s) or currently Workday Certified is a requirement of the role.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in technical, business, or financial discipline.

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate's experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $128,100.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $203,300.00/year (for full-time employees).
