Writer, Technology Innovation

The Technology Innovation team at Point72 conducts research and experiments with a broad range of technologies that could have a transformational impact on our Firm and the broader industry. We are focused on cutting-edge applied research in key focus areas including applied quantum technology, novel non-traditional computing paradigms, applied artificial intelligence, human augmentation interfaces, and heterogenous architectures.

What you’ll do

You will help us distill and share the insights we discover in our emerging technologies research in written content for a broad, non-technical audience. You will create internal and external products based on a variety of inputs, including interviews with research and engineering teams, academics, commercial firms, and our innovation team. As the voice of Technology Innovation at our Firm, this is a key role in growing the team’s reputation as trusted advisors on emerging technology to our leaders and colleagues.

Specifically, you will:

• Establish a consistent voice for all communications and all materials published by the Tech Innovation team that is engaging and easy to understand for people outside of the team
• Collaborate with the Innovation Team and internal and external stakeholders to write and publish research papers/reports, white papers, educational pieces, for a variety of audiences, including Point72’s senior leadership team, technology department, non-technical stakeholders, and external audiences
• Understand and stay abreast of trends in emerging technology and within our areas of research
• Curate in-house digital content for publication in emails, blog posts, websites, and wikis, and strategically distribute our content through these channels
• Write and publish fresh, right-sized articles and case studies in science magazines and industry forums
• Develop professional documentation templates for various types of publications such as tech radars, newsletters, white-papers, tech reports, conference papers, conference digests, and others
• Champion and foster a culture of innovation at all levels of the organization

What’s required

• Exceptional writing skills with experience building an understand of and writing about complex topics for news outlets or blogs, publishing companies, or trade organizations
• Proven track record of published articles and creation of digital content
• Experience working closely with internal stakeholders and internal communications teams to generate a variety of deadline-driven pieces
• Experience interviewing senior leaders and/or industry experts and translating their insights and perspectives into compelling, professionally written materials and visuals (e.g., reports, POVs, articles, blogs, Q&As, PPT presentations, educational materials)
• Experience communicating complex concepts to a variety of audiences, such as senior researchers, technologists, executive leadership, and others in non-technical roles
• Experience with cross-platform digital publishing and with multiple content types (social media, blogs, long-form digital and print articles, webcasts, embedded video, etc.)
• Broad, current understanding of emerging technology trends

• Educational background or related experience in computer science or related technical field may be helpful in this role
• Some graphic design skills will be helpful in this role
