Your Role and Responsibilities
Cybersecurity isn’t just about hackers and defences. It’s about people and the way security impacts their daily lives. Protecting the world is an ambitious goal but an important one that unites us. At IBM Security our mission is to protect our clients from various attacks including malware identity theft fraud and more.

What do we look for in a successful X-Force Research Intern?

• Demonstrated leadership and adaptability with willingness to take ownership of highly challenging tasks and problems readily and voluntarily even beyond initial scope of responsibility.
• Thorough and analytical with capability to apply logic to solve problems.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines while maintaining focus despite conflicting demands.
• Drive to overcome the most challenging or difficult obstacles and look for ways to improve results.
• Initiative to actively seek new knowledge and improve skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and work effectively with individuals and teams strengthening relationships to achieve win-win solutions.
• Ability to communicate complex situations clearly and simply by listening actively and conveying difficult messages in a positive manner.

A passion for innovative ideas coupled with the ability to understand and assimilate different points of view.

The length of the internship is flexible but will be 6-9 months.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• Qualified candidates must be enrolled in an accredited institution pursuing a degree in a Security related field and able to start January – March 2024 in Dublin Ireland.
• Skills in software design and development data structures algorithms service-oriented architectures or web services
• Problem solving skills attention to detail and the ability to think creatively

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

• Experience with noSQL databases
• Experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana
• Cyber security knowledge
• Experience programming with Python
• Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning
• Experience with relational databases and SQL
• Worked with Agile development practices
• Experience with Python ReactJS AngularJS.
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins Ansible or other similar tools
