SUPERVISING ENGINEER - GAS SCADA (YA7384)

About The Position

The Supervising Engineer - Gas SCADA is responsible for the direct supervision of gas SCADA engineering personnel and is responsible for ensuring the correct development of scope, schedule, and budget for gas SCADA projects. This includes ensuring all designs are compliant with Company policies and standards, and state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with Supervising Engineers, Managers, and Directors to establish capital investment budget targets for SCADA facility projects. Provide oversight for the gas SCADA engineers as they monitor and control project financial performance throughout the design, construction, and closeout phases to achieve investment goals.
  • Oversee the efforts of the gas SCADA engineering personnel during design, installation, and operational support of all gas SCADA and related facilities. Includes providing engineering leadership oversight of all odorizer evaluations, repairs, upgrades, and overall compliance of the gas SCADA facilities in the Ameren Illinois territory to assure that facilities are safe, reliable and in compliance with all Company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide direction and identify project assignments for the gas SCADA engineering personnel. This includes oversight of the development of accurate project estimates and ensuring that all capital project administration and work order requirements are followed.
  • Collaborates with Supervising Engineers, to coordinate the correct scope and timing for all gas SCADA projects and to maximize development and engagement of the gas SCADA engineering staff.
  • Engage with the leadership of Gas Supply, Gas Control, and Operations to coordinate work, develop standards, and comply with regulations. Responsibility includes developing standards and processes to unify AIC gas SCADA design and installation practices across the AIC service territory.
  • Supervise the efforts of the gas SCADA engineers as they coordinate project implementation activities with construction and operations personnel, gas pipeline suppliers, and customers. Ensure all gas SCADA projects are accurately closed in accordance with all Company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support preparation of the Gas Technical Services Engineering construction, operations, and maintenance budgets and assist in preparation of the overall Gas Operations and Support budget. Direct the identification and prioritization of capital expenditures and evaluate and justify projects based upon engineering analysis, system capacity, and any regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited University required. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License preferred. Five or more years of experience in gas SCADA engineering or equivalent (Pipeline engineering, Process Piping engineering, etc.) required. Specific experience with selection and troubleshooting of process instrumentation, Fisher ROC programming, and working with HART communication protocols is required. Supervisory experience in gas engineering preferred. Five years of gas engineering design experience preferred. Specific experience with developing budgets, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and engineering employee development preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite required.
  • Knowledge of specific Ameren systems (e.g., DOJM, PowerPlan, Primavera, Budgeting System, etc.) preferred.

Additional Information

This position requires a strong working knowledge of Gas Control, Gas Supply, Gas Operations, the AIC Gas Operations and Maintenance Plan, gas facility construction standards, gas materials, operating policies, computer applications utilized for gas SCADA, and transmission pipelines and distribution piping systems. Must possess good organizational, communication, and analytical skills. Must have demonstrated leadership behaviors with the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly across multiple organizations, solve problems decisively, and be proactive and self-motivated to identify improvement opportunities, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
