Summary

• Manage and monitor the movement of yard mule vehicles and operators through the outbound operation.
• Facilitate effective, consistent communication between multiple teams including: Service Providers, Drivers and Security.
• Manage the yard in an assertive manner.
• Being alert to the arrival and departure of vehicles from the site.

Qualification and Experience

• Able to work outside in variable weather conditions including high-temperature summer months.
• 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
• Pass a drug screen, physical, and Level 4 background check.
• Read, write and fluent in English.
• Must have the ability to function effectively in a fast paced, team oriented work environment
• Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
• Must be able to work (flexible hours) extended hours including nights, overtime, weekends, often with little or no prior notification and until operations are complete.

Important Personal Skills

• Be able to distinguish between various wiring colors.
• High proficiency in Microsoft applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
• Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

Job Tasks

• Monitor the yard activities, including assessing which loading teams are available, addressing issues preventing achieving loading KPI goal and traffic flow issues
• Communicate with necessary teams to address any issues; swiftly report issues to the necessary teams
• Monitor and direct the flow at the site
• Ensure all the Drivers are in their designated truck at their designated area (Loading Island, Stand By Station, etc.)
• Being flexible to adapt a new loading/flow plan if needed
• Conduct and plan LPOs and perform LPSA touches
• Lead toolbox meetings in the supervisor’s absence
• Must assist with reporting maintenance issues reported on the yard by drivers in absence of Drayage supervisor.
• Must be able to assist in safety investigations
• Must be able to perform container yard inventory and assist with resolving container parking location discrepancies.
• Assist Drayage departments if/when container swings are needed
• Perform the duties of a Yard Mule Driver if there is a personnel shortage or as needed by operations
• Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
