Yard Traffic Specialist

Department: Cross Dock Job Status: Full-Time Reports to: Yard Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for communicating and interacting with drivers, both in/out of our terminal. Responsibilities include ensuring drivers have all necessary documents and tools to be successful on their route. All documents are printed, audited, scanned, sorted, and provided to drivers by the yard traffic specialist on duty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, SKILLS, and RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to effectively communicate to all organizational levels.
• Effectively manage drivers, including enforcing current company policies and ensuring accuracy of paperwork to be successful on their routes.
• Processing route/driver documents.
• Printing, auditing, scanning, sorting, and disseminating documents.
• Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems
• Dispatch/transportation experience a plus
• Prior Route Management experience a plus
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and by email
• Effective leadership / team building skills
• High degree of problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent organizational abilities
• Able to function independently, without direct supervision and as part of a team
• Capable of handling multiple and changing priorities
• Must be flexible on shift hours

EDUCATION:

Post-secondary education or High School Diploma or GED with preferred 1-2 years industry experience.

EXPERIENCE:

Experience in logistics or manufacturing

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook email required. Knowledge of TMW software is a plus. Must have the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Solid work history and willingness to successfully function in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is an office position within our crossdock facility. You will need to follow all correct and proper PPE requirements set for entering the dock area. Such as but not limited to, wearing a reflective vest, shirt, or jacket, and steel toe shoes or shoe coverings.
