At a Glance:

The Yard Hand is primarily responsible for the routine maintenance and minor repairs in district yard and buildings. This position is scheduled for 40-50 hours per week as needed.

What you will do:

• Handle tasks at the direction of supervisors and managers
• Maintain a weekly/monthly maintenance schedule for district buildings and yard
• Perform minor repairs within district buildings
• Report issues to supervisor
• Assist with searching for new suppliers as needed
• Perform routine maintenance on district security systems (cameras, gates, turnstiles, door controls, system controllers, solar panels)
• Provide support to light duty vehicle fleet coordinator
• Assist other departments as needed
• Partner with co-workers to work rotating On-Call shifts to handle phone calls and yard needs after-hours, weekends and holidays
• Create field transfers during On-Call shifts
• Utilize forklift to load/un-load trailers in yard
• Utilize pole truck to assist stacked yard department
• Run errands as needed

What you need:

• Valid U.S. Driver’s License and a good Driver’s License record
• Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests
• Ability to perform work in various conditions
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively
• Ability to work effectively with in-house customers, co-workers, and suppliers
• Good written and oral communication skills

Not a must, but a plus:

• Basic knowledge of building maintenance
• Forklift & manlift certified
• Basic skills with Pole Truck
• Basic knowledge & skills with Excel, Word, Outlook
