The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor provides vocational and personal adjustment counseling, case management, and transferrable skills analyses to aid Veterans with severe disabilities in pursuing their self-determined employment, educational, and independent living goals. The Supported Employment Substance Use DO (SE-SUD) VRC customizes evaluation of abilities, aptitudes, interests, values, and preferences, and assists Veterans in vocational exploration activities. U.S. Citizenship is required, and proficiency in English is mandatory. A master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related field is necessary, along with current, full, and unrestricted certification as a certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC) from the CRCC. The position involves walking, talking, driving, and using the telephone, with light lifting and carrying under 15 pounds. A valid California driver's license is required. Federal employees earn annual leave based on years of service, and selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual.
