The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and reports to the surgical clinic nurse manager. The LPN is responsible for observing, recording, and reporting changes in the patient's condition, and assisting in the development of the patient-driven holistic care plan. The LPN is a member of the surgical clinic healthcare team. The job requires U.S. citizenship, English language proficiency, and a valid LPN license. The grade determinations for GS-05 and GS-06 positions involve providing a full range of practical nursing care, initiating and performing assigned duties, and recognizing and responding to patient needs. Federal employees earn annual leave based on their years of service, and selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual. This position is in the Excepted Service and does not confer competitive status. VHA health care personnel are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
