Job Description
Summary
Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees.
Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Installs, maintains, and repairs major appliances such as electric and gas ranges and stoves, dishwashers, automatic clothes washers, and dryers associated with UH facilities.
Ensures all aspects of appliances are in proper working order. Examines units to determine malfunctions.
Disassembles units, replacing parts and components, reassembling, adjusting, and testing appliances.
Performs regularly scheduled equipment and UH facility inspections and maintenance.
Utilizes manufacturers recommended maintenance schedules.
Maintains preventative maintenance schedules, repair logs, tool and part inventories, and procurement logs.
Schedules and communicates repair and preventative maintenance schedules with program and facility managers.
Reads and interprets equipment manuals, instructions, and work plans to perform services.
Disposes of unserviceable equipment through proper channels.
Keeps UH facilities, property equipment, tools, supplies clean and organized.
Ensures internal controls are followed to protect minor property, fixed assets, supplies, and records. Meets Safety Data System standards and ensures equipment, work areas, and facilities comply with environmental and safety standards.
Utilizes automated property management system to track work orders, inspection data and reports.
Performs vacant room inspections as directed to determine maintenance requirements and implements corrective measures as needed.
Performs other maintenance tasks as directed including but not limited to: Hanging items, replace outlet and light switch covers, minor painting, minor floor repairs, simple plumbing repairs, repairs to interior and exterior entry doors and closets, and small equipment repairs.
Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times.
Ensures guest privacy is maintained at all times.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Conditions of employment
This position is subject to the possibility of workdays on weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours.
The staff member may be recalled to duty and/or required to work overtime, including on an emergency basis.
In order to verify fitness for duty, a complete physical examination may be required.
May be required to possess a valid state driver license, as travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties.
Incumbent must pass all applicable records and background checks.
Qualifications
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing techniques as associated with the functioning of household appliances.
Nature of the work calls for limited knowledge/skill in a variety of crafts or trades as they relate to the repair of such equipment, but not a predominate knowledge of any one trade or craft.
Must have skill in the use of hand and power tools and testing devices.
Must be able to learn and follow all safety procedures.
Must have skill sufficient to read signs, follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively with management, staff, and guests.
Education
This position does not have a positive education requirement.
Additional information
Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
