Job Description
Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Operates UH-60 rotary wing aircraft and associated flight simulator(s) as an instructor pilot located in Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Duties
Plans and conducts flight training while evaluating graduate and undergraduate aviators on pre-flight through post-flight tasks and maneuvers.
Review and evaluation of work is based on visits to ground classes, pre-flight and post-flight debriefs, observation of flight techniques, student end of course critiques, and reports from checks and standardization flights.
Perform Proficiency Flight Evaluations (PFEs) to re-establish currency, Instrument Evaluations, post mishap evaluations, mentorship flights, Resident Instructor Training (RIT), and medical flight evaluations IAW applicable regulations/SOPs.
Instructs and evaluates academic topics in accordance with TC 3-04.11 or current, equivalent publication(s), the aircrew catalogue of academic topics (ACAT), current Army and Aviation doctrine.
Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining files and records, completing and maintaining grade slips and folders on students.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must obtain and maintain Secret background investigation.
Incumbent requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. MUST attach a copy front and back.
This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
Incumbent must successfully obtain and maintain an annual Army Class II Flight Physical.
This position requires rotating shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that includes minimum
eligibility requirements for positions in this occupation based on possession of the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) pilot
certificates and/or appropriate military ratings. Meeting the applicable flight hour requirements and possession of the knowledge and skills
required for the position which includes instructing/evaluating rated and non-rated pilots in flight procedures in the UH-60 Blackhawk
helicopter in tasks such as primary, basic and advanced instrument, combat skills (tactics and terrain techniques) and conducting classroom
instruction on training maneuvers and techniques, aircraft systems, and night vision systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical
of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
CERTIFICATIONS: This position requires you possess the appropriate Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Pilot Certificates, FAA Flight
Instructor Certificate and/or appropriate military rating. (NOTE: You MUST attach a copy front and back with your application).
MINIMUM FLIGHT HOURS REQUIREMENT:
Total Flight Hours- 1500
Pilot in Command - 250
Night Flying - 75
Flying Time in the Last 12 Months - 100 (may be waived)
Instructor Hours - 500
Instrument Hours - 75
Actual Weather- 10

the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Additional information
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
