Job Description

Summary This position is located at Paul R. Smith Fitness Centerwhich is part of Fort Benning Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid. Duties Serves as Fitness Facility Coordinator and assists in the daily operations/functions required to manage a fitness facility up to 64,798 SQ FT. Works under the direction of the Facility Manager. Assists the Fitness Facility Manager in the overall management and operation of a fitness facility. Leads and or supervises the operation during second shift of program operations and in the absence of the Fitness Manager. Assists in the assessment of facility requirements and helps develop plans and specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness and sports facilities. Assist in the publicizing sports facilities, programs and events. Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Assists with recommendations for the purchase/construction of equipment and facilities. Instructs customers and monitors proper usage of equipment, as need. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation. Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED. Must complete the following courses/classes: MWR Orientation Course; Customer Service; Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair). Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Possesses directly related work experience that includes the demonstrated ability to carry-out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Candidates who possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above. Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification.
